Nen was shaken awake by gentle arms. Jaxom looked down from above in the gray light of before-dawn.
Come, we must be going. Everything had been packed and the fires ashes had been scattered. Looking around the small clearing where they had sat Nen could see no traces of their camp.
Jaxom was already at the horse, getting up into the saddle. Once he was seated he pulled Nen up behind him, making sure she was secure before ordering the horse to walk.
Uhm, how long until we get to the Forest, Jaxom looked back in surprise as she asked her simple question. It was the first thing she had said without first being prompted by a question.
We should get there about midday. Do you know anything about the Forest?
No, Nen said as she looked up into the sky through the canopy.
The Forest is a place where dragons are brought to live and grow happily. They are each protected by a guardian who lives with them, he said simply.
Dragons! Jaxom looked back in surprise as she exclaimed the word.
I did not know they existed, she whispered to herself.
Of course they exist, I should know. I am a guardian of dragon.
What?
You act so surprised. I bet know you are going to tell me you do not believe in elves he said with a smile.
Elves? Jaxom pulled back his black hair to reveal a pair of ears pointed at the top. Nen had to restrain from staring as she examined the elfs features.
There are neither elves nor dragons where I came from
Then you have missed out on a lot of lifes adventures. Perhaps you can make up some lost time at the Forest. Nen did not reply, just continued to watch the forest about.
