Falling Stars

Morning, as much of a morning as could be called in this moonlight-filled world, came upon the small clearing as it usually did. The moonlight began to shine more heavily, creating a more silvery and luminescent glow about the forest. Toshida stirred where he had slithered next to Insei and Ihen where he had slithered to in the middle of the night. Insei sat up, and looked to Toshida who was sticking straight up. *There are people outside, waiting for us.* Insei nods, still too groggy to make a decent reply. She quickly dressed before waking up Ihen, who did not respond well to the abrupt awakening. He grunts and dressed quickly with a bit of patient prodding from Insei and Toshida. Eventually the three made it outside, where the visitors were sitting next to the pool. Desiree and Kashi sat next to each other, and Kashi�s bondmate Morgan stood a little ways of. Insei did not know Morgan well, and wondered why the elf had come to the clearing on this visit. Kashi had grown more independent as time went on, and usually came on his own. �I have good news for you three!� Desiree stood and embraced Insei, who gave a started look. �Juliette and Kashi�s clutch is having their Shantel today. We should leave now to make it in time.� Insei looked to Kashi, whose chest was buffed out in pride, and then to Toshida who smiled and bobbed his head. �It�s what we�ve been waiting for, Toshida,� Insei said to the little dragon. She snaps her fingers, remembering something. She quickly runs back into the cottage, and reappears with a small object in her hand. �What�s that?� Desiree asks. Ihen replies, �We got Toshida a hat, so when he went outside of the clearing for the Shantel, his eyes wouldn�t be harmed by the sun.� Desiree nods her head as Insei pulls the little blue hat over Toshida�s head. He looks up from beneath the brim, and smiles. *Ready to go? I�m ready to grow up now.* The humans laughed as they set out from the clearing, Toshida glowing in expectation. Toshida floated at the surface of the water, the Glass Swan from his Shantel floating next to him in the moonlight. It was a beautiful object, and fitted Toshida perfectly. He was now a full Bishen dragon, a full adult. Now he would begin a search for a mate, if he chose to do so. But the Glass Swan wasn't the only thing they had brought back with them from the Shantel. Inside their little cottage, on a shelf, lay a golden star along with a plaque. Indyana had come to them, and awarded Insei the Golden Star Award, a special gift to those who took great care of their bonded dragons. Insei was still greatly surprised, not expecting at all to receive such an honorific award. Insei listened to the slight breeze as she watched Toshida bump his toy about the water's surface.
