Interests
There are lots of things that I am interested in...
Nature
I love to go hiking around in the woods.  Some of the best hiking can be found in the eastern part of Kentucky at Natural Bridge State Park and at the Red River Gorge.  There are also some nice trails in Morehead, Kentucky near my alma mater of Morehead State University.  Nothing makes you feel better after a long day than sitting in the middle of nowhere with just the trees and animals around you.  The calm is PRICELESS!
I love all animals, especially furry ones!  I have had 3 dogs, one cat, and 4 ferrets.  I think animal babies are the cutest around.  Sometimes I feel that animals are better company than people!  I am convinced that all animals have distinct personalities and can somehow understand us better than we understand ourselves.  I only hope that one day we can raise the public awareness of our responsibility to the welfare of all creatures great and small.  I fear that with some current trends of stupidity and ignorance, we might soon lose some wonderful species to our own neglect.
Animals
One of the best gateways to one's imagination!  A good book can take you anywhere you want to go.  Most of mine take me to a fantasy land or a land of suspense and thrills.  Some of my favorite authors are Margaret Weis and Tracy Hickman (co-authors of the Death Gate Cycle), Dean Koontz (author of Hideaway, Phantoms and a host of others), and Brian Jacques (author of the series about the city of Redwall and Redwall Abby staring all animals and no humans). Reading is a wonderful habit to get into and I encourage everyone who has children to start them out at an early age.

Art
I don't know much about art but I find it fascinating.  Monet and Van Gogh are my two favorite artists.  I'm not much into modern art, but I applaud anyone who has the talent.  Like any other form, art is a means of self expression and finding outlets to deal with the rest of the world.
Again, something I don't know a lot about, but I do know more about this than about art.  Music can excite you, calm you, make you laugh and make you cry.  I love the rock from the 70's like the Doors, Led Zepplin, and Jimi Hendrix as well as Fleetwood Mac.  Since working with my hubby, Greg, on his music, I am learning more about this world and have tried my hand at lyrics with not bad results!
Music
I am pretty familiar with this artform.  I was in ballet/jazz/tap for 9 years!  I think most people take this for granted, but dance is about telling a story with your movements, costumes and with the set in conjunction with the music.  I have seen performances of Swan Lake, Romeo and Juliet, the Nutcracker, Don Quixote, and Cinderella.  During my dancing years I was able to express myself to such tunes as Rhapsody in Blue, I've Had the Time of My Life (Dirty Dancing Soundtrack), Nutcracker, Cinderella, and some tunes from Saturday Night Fever.  The stage is always a thrill!

Travel
Thanks to my wonderful parents, I was able to see most of the United States growing up.  States like Colorado, Montana, and Wyoming that are in the area of the Rocky Mountains are my favorites.  Mountains seem to add a sense of majesty to any area.  I grew up in Kentucky which has some wonderful scenery in the eastern areas.  Now I am living in Minnesota and discovering the beauty of the mid-west.  I hope to visit some places out of the USA such as Europe (Amsterdam especially), Australia, and perhaps some parts of South America, Asia and Africa if we don't blow ourselves up before then!
