About Me
Hi!  This page is just to tell you a little about me and why I have this website in the first place.
My name is Laura Miske.  I was born and raised in beautiful Eastern Kentucky.  I spent my summers running around the Natural Bridge State Park and the Red River Gorge.  I have a big extended family that likes to get together for the holidays.
May of 2001, I graduated from Morehead State University in Morehead, KY with a degree in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting.  For those of you who live in Kentucky, I highly recommend MSU for it's attention to students and the small class atmosphere.  MSU, though small, is a very good school and should not be overlooked.
I stayed in the area for about a year working at a local gas company called Delta Natural Gas.  I think Delta was a great place for a first job experience and the people there are very nice.  All good things must come to an end eventually, and I left Delta to begin a new adventure, far, far away.
What better way to start an adventure than to get married and move 850 miles away from everything you know?  June 1, 2002, I married my college sweetheart and we moved to the Twin Cities in Minnesota (now lovingly being refered to as the Great White North!)  Greg is in the music business and unless you want country or bluegrass as your main income, you need to get out of Kentucky.  The music scene in Minnesota is much more intense than in Kentucky.  I mean, Prince has his studio here, for crying out loud!  So with some savings and some parental help we followed Greg's acceptance to MusicTech College and moved to Apple Valley, Minnesota, just south of St. Paul.

I am now working as an area accountant for Onyx Waste Services, head-quartered out of Wisconsin.  Greg is going to MusicTech full-time and working at Schmidt Music as a guitar teacher.  Things seem to be going well for us, and we are in the process of looking for a house to buy.  It has come to our attention that renting SUCKS and that our mortgage payments would be about the same as what we are paying in rent.
All of this brings me to why I started this website.  I am hundreds of miles away from friends and family, so I wanted a way to keep in touch with them and keep them up to date on my creative endeavors as well as share pics of my kids in a more efficient way.  I also consider myself a writer and as a writer, I want to be able to share my work on my own terms.

That and I just thought it would be cool to say I have my own website.  :)
