We are a consumer product development firm that concentrates on eliminating life's little nuisances through innovative problem solving, engineering experience, and good old-fashioned elbow grease.� We then take the fruits of our labor and share them with the retail world through partnerships with established manufacturers and retailers.
Encuenta Designs, L.L.C. exists to reduce the frustration of common chores in the lives of retail consumers.� The company is built to recognize a need for a consumer product, develop a simple, user friendly solution, and license the solution to known manufacturers and retailers.� Not all things that need to be invented have been and Encuenta Designs, L.L.C. is working every day to shrink that list.
We run our business with the intention of creating new products based on needs that we have felt or witnessed personally.� Of course, if we simply worked off of our own list of known needs, we would soon be out of products to develop.� To be sure that we will always have new problems to solve, the staff will take part in doing something that they are unfamiliar with on a regular basis.� The idea being that in taking on new tasks, the staff member has not yet learned how to work around existing gaps in product offerings.� We can then assess the task and identify problem areas that then become opportunities for us to design solutions.� It is through this program of new task assignment that we will continue to challenge ourselves and discover opportunities for improvement.� Our philosophy of operation can be condensed to the following:
1. Hit a wall.
2. Develop a new wall-smashing hammer.
3. License the design to a hammer manufacturer.
4. Find a new wall.
We're not sure anymore.� During a brainstorming session to name the company, one of us picked up an English/Spanish dictionary and found "encuenta" as a Spanish translation for a word we looked up in English.� We put it on the list of candidate names and continued the brainstorming, forgetting its English source.� Encuenta won the vote, probably because we couldn't remember what it meant, and is now the company name.� We know it translates, as two words, to "take everything into account", but that is not the English phrase we looked up.� So what is encuenta?� We may never know...Pretty cool, huh?
