My name is Eyes
Only. In "Dark
Angel", Eyes Only was a cyber-journalist who battled
corruption and oppression by revealing it while keeping his
identity a secret. Similarly, I intend to do the same within the
walls of USC, if only this one time. My intentions are not to
indict or condemn the school or any of its officials or
administration mentioned directly or indirectly here. These are
just the complaints of 5 students who told me their stories in
the hopes of inciting change, to make the systems that work
within the university work for ALL students of this university,
regardless of grades, standing or whatever else may be the case.
To try and build the pro-student school system we all deserve. We
know that these changes won't happen during any of our school
lifetimes, but we feel it is our duty as students to get the
wheels turning. You may not agree with our methods of revealing
this just like the Oakwood Mutiny soldiers, but like them these
are all valid points that one way or another have or are being
covered up and need to be raised for the community to see.
Eyes Only is
not a student "activist". To me, student
"activists" are those students who stand outside
chanting when they have a problem with the school. While there is
a place for them in society, that is not Eyes Only. In "Dark
Angel", Eyes Only showed the truth. He didn't reveal his
identity because he would have been hunted down. In the same
sense, I will not reveal my identity or any of my sources'
because none of us want recognition.
Our names have
been altered and our courses not thoroughly
mentioned to protect our identities. You can see the measures I
am taking to protect my identity and the identities of my
sources. Some students, teachers or administration may be able to
recognize who I am or any one of my sources. If they do, they can
speculate all they want. Both my sources and I have sworn if we
are to reveal our identities, we will do so on our own terms.
