EYE SEA were formed in 1994 by Sven (bass) and Tolga (guitar). Without a vocalist nor a drummer they first rehearsed under DISILLUSION. Both guys were deeply into the early Swedish Death Metal scene although they dig the Florida scene as well.
After a quite �disillusioning� search for a drummer, Sven and Tolga hooked up with Herb at the `95 Nuclear Blast Festival, which has been Death Metal indeed back then. Tolga knew Herb from seeing since childhood. Herb did a couple of DM-bands on guitar and vocals, also some Hip Hop bands he was joining but he never played the drums before.
Because of private duty Sven had to leave the band... he returned for a while to sing in DISILLUSION but his vocals were to gurgly-style in Tolga�s ears, so he left again.
At this time Tolga wanted a more DM unlike name: EYE SEA were founded! Now things happened fast: they found Uwe on bass for EYE SEA, coz Tolga played sometime in his band DEMENZ DURCH ALLTAG. Uwe had an almost weird and strange style in his playing and this is why he fits best for this band. Tolga left DEMENZ DURCH ALLTAG; coz he more and more felt ill during the rehearsals. Even his guitar-style was too gothic and melodic for an industrial band. EYE SEA checked out numerous and unmentionable vocalists, but in `96 they deicide to record their first demo as a three-piece. �beLIEve� was recorded at studio Selani in Olsztyn/Poland by Andi Bomba, who also did some shit for VADER, CHRIST AGONY and Polish alikes.
This four-tracker was mainly sung by Uwe and just one by Tulg. �beLIEve� contains DM standards, played fast and tight. �beLIEve� can be described as a mixture of early UNLEASHED, DEICIDE and DISMEMBER.
EYE SEA made 100 copies and sent them to mags, labels and zines, got almost good reviews and even today not just few people say that �beLIEve� is the best recording to date. �beLIEve� is sold out.
The three-piece went on developing and Herb�s drumming just became incredible precise and fast, the more they rehearsed; so stagnation is a word EYE SEA just wiped out in the creating process.
1997 EYE SEA hooked up with Gregcore whom Herb and Tolga knew since the days in school. He said, that he will produce even more phat and clear. Herb played with Gregcore in a band called MUTTI�S LEIDEN and Gregcore�s just an amazing drummer, who knows how things have to sound. He also did his excellent job in the legendary Bremen-located Hip Hop band SAPRIZE. Becuase of this there was no need to trust him not.
EYE SEA recorded �Off Lies: MONADOLOGY� with Gregcore at IWF-Studios/Hannover.
Seven new tracks + Intro and a new version of �The Killing� from �beLIEve�. All of these, due to sound and material, were much influenced by CRYPTOPSY�s �None So Vile�. Almost good reviews. This time one song was done by Uwe with lead vocals the rest by Tolga. As before, the three-piece adds a remarkable disgusting back-up voice to the songs. Again it was done a demo-tape which is sold out already but can be copied if people send a tape or writable CD with a self adressed and stamped envelope.
The composership just became flowing in time and after a lot of gigs (where ES picked out vocalists right out of the audience and with guests like Michael from ANTAGONIST) EYE SEA had four new songs of which they thought it�s a must to publish them coz of the unity these tunes mirror. It was a complete new level in which the three-piece played this time.
Herb was treaten like shit by Uwe and Tolga to give his best... a real aggressive and hate reigned time. But Herb did the unexpected and just blasted Uwe and Tolga�s shit outta the riffs. Again ES produced with Gregcore at IWF. Tolga wanted the guitars more real coz of the fact that a lot of DM bands have just one axe in the band but record four, six or more in the studio and fuck the fans up at gigs. EYE SEA tuned down to H, Tolga recorded just two guitar tracks with a minimalistic bunch of harmonies and a real honest sound. Uwe�s bass instead comes pumping and beating like hordes of demons rush the earth. Herb�s drumming on this recording went just far beyond and for the first time he presents his version of hyperblast.
A few weeks before EYE SEA went into the studio they found Damir as their new and permanent vocalist. Remind yourself: It�s 1999. He was completely dark, Glen Benton-style looking. Damir was fuckin� youngaged and his voice was easy to form but not in time. So �Bloodgeon� was done by Uwe, Tolga and Herb again: Three by Tolga, one by Uwe and a hidden track (which is �Revenge Through Abuse� from �beLIEve�) by Uwe and Herb with German lyrix about cops, drugs, pimps and whores. �Bloodgeon� just turned out so fuckin� brutal and raw with a demonic schizophrenic mayhem on back up vocals you won�t believe! The sound in general is alike DARK ANGEL�s masterpiece �Leave Scars�... if people don�t like, then EYE SEA cannot help. EYE SEA left the studios after four or five absolute disharmonic days; everyone was stressed and mentally exhausted.
A few days later after EYE SEA sent a tape to S�nke/Shredded Records everything was done early and fast. �Bloodgeon� was the bands first CD-release and this time the press was divided: too fast, too hectic, too weird.
But the band was completely satisfied, Damir fits in time and new songs and gigs were flowing like shit.
In January 2002 EYE SEA will enter the studio. Again Gregcore�s the man to produce the new release which is untitled til now. It will turn out as a mixture of �Bloodgeon�; new EYE SEA skills, HATE ETERNAL, late BRUTAL TRUTH and CRYPTOPSY.
Not to forget that EYE SEA fucked up the amazing RIGHTEOUS PIG�s song �I hope you die in a hotel fire!� on �Bloodgeon�, this time it maybe will be the awesome BRUTAL TRUTH classic �Black Door Mine�.
