PLAZA OF NATIONS The Plaza of Nations was the hub of Expo 86. Able to hold 5000 spectators, the glass covered plaza was the centre for formal ceremonies. Parades and shows could be seen daily. The flags of all participating nations were flown overhead. The buildings surrounding
the plaza housed the BC Pavilion, nightclubs, pubs, restaurants and several
small exhibits. The largest gold coin ever minted and estimated at
over one million dollars was on display. Administration offices could
be found on the upper floors overlooking the Plaza.
