| Prayer for a Soldier |
| Dear God, If I asked for a favor, what would You say I have a good friend who shipped out yesterday I miss him already and wonder if he's okay Will You watch over him while he's gone far away? You'll find him standing guard in a distant land With a gleam in his eye and a gun in his hand Along with his brothers, he is taking a stand Against men threatening our precious homeland When the call came out for him to go And fly overseas to battle the foe He packed all his gear and left even though If he'd ever make it back, he didn't know He called me last night just to say goodbye He said if he had to he was ready to die Asked me to pray for him, but not to cry I made him no promises but told him I'd try Now that he's gone, I sit thinking alone I'm terrified thinking what he's facing unknown My only comfort is that he's not on his own The boys he trained with are men now all grown He's out there fighting for his country bravely Risking his life so that others can be free Please don't let him be just another casualty God, will You please bring him home safely to me |
