It Isn't An Excuse
Love isn't supposed to hurt
There must be something wrong
But you probably can't even tell
It's been happening so long

You shouldn't be here crying
Don't say it's not abuse
Don't tell me that he loves you
Love isn't an excuse

He's not supposed to hit you
You're not supposed to bruise
If you stay with him you'll die here
You're going to have to choose

You know what you deserve
What you are worth of
You shouldn't live in torment
You cannot call that love

Don't let him call you nothing
What he tells you is a lie
You are strong and beautiful
Even if you're a little shy

There's no reason to fear
Living life out there alone
You're better off without him
You can make it on your own

Love isn't supposed to hurt
Are you listening to me?
It doesn't have to be this way
There's more for you to be.
If you suspect domestic violence in any situation, please contact local authorities.  Some people think what happens in another person's relationship is none of their business.  They think their friend should be able to take care of him or herself.  They think that their help will not be wanted, that their friend will become upset by their intervention.  They think their friend will continue to go back to an unhealthy or abusive relationship.  There is always the question of what will happen if you do something.  But the bigger question is, what will happen if you don't?
