Bullets and Bodies
In a dark battle field far from his home
A little boy lies bleeding, he is dying alone
He thinks of his mother, his father, his girl
He wonders what happened to the fate of the world

He fought for his country with pride in his heart
But now lying dying, he wonders when did it start
When did men begin to justify death
He didn't understand as he struggled for breath

There's a pain in his chest, he is covered in blood
All he remembers is falling face down in the mud
Bullets and bodies, there are no stars in the skies
And so many images flashing in front of his eyes

Bombers and tanks and explosions and guns
The sins of the fathers being paid by the sons
Mines maiming children who don't know they're there
Innocent people who don't have a prayer

Young men and women all shipped off to fight
Where everything's wrong and nothing is right
This isn't their cause, this isn't their war
Most of them don't know what they're fighting for

Freedom and country their superiors say
They give the orders, then they run away
They count up the casualties and send the reports
They dispatch the scouts, but they sit in the forts

The men at the top, their decisions all made
They just issue the orders that must be obeyed
They think it's so easy to just go off to war
Just blow up some buildings to settle the score

They forgot the civilians innocent of all blame
"It's for the good of the world" is the motto they claim
But bullets and bodies, that's all that remains
No laughter, no smiles, nothing left but the pain.
Dedicated, with gratitude, to all of the servicemen and women around the world.

We, as civilians, must always support our troops. We must not neglect our veterans. And we must never forget our fallen.
