| No matter what they tell you Remember that you are strong Just because they don't believe you I doesn't mean that you are wrong They used to say a man won't fly He'll never make it to the stars Well, now they know that isn't true We've already gone that far We didn't get where we are now By simply following the norm We wouldn't ever take a chance If we decided to conform They used to say you've got no rights Unless you were a man A girl, she had no voice at all She was only property at hand Well Galileo found the stars above And Columbus dared the sea If it weren't for those few dreamers Where in the world would we now be If the Neanderthal deep in the past Hadn't found his cave so bitter cold Would he have discovered fire Or made the wheel that rolled All I'm saying is your future isn't set It isn't already written in a stone You can be anything you want to be Your life is yours and yours alone You, yourself, are a precious gift That you give to the rest of this Earth Don't let anyone tell you differently Because you know what you are worth Life isn't going to be handed to you You must be willing to sacrifice You have to take a couple risks If you want a second chance at life Your past can influence your future You may be a millionaire or a bum But ultimately, you are responsible For who you are going to become. |
