| Is the All-Seeing Eye our conscience Is the All-Knowing Mind our guilt Does the Wrathful God prevent wrong Or is He just and idol that we built Does He control our universe Does He ever make mistakes With all of us so busy Does He ever take a break Most people follow blindly He's the shepherd, we're the sheep He protects us in the morning He's beside us as we sleep So why do bad things happen Why do children die Why is evil so prevalent How is Heaven in the sky Why did we make weapons To cause each other pain Why do so many die to war Have they always died in vain Why is innocence spilt most often Instead of the blood at fault Why does conflict escalate Instead of come to a halt Why do people fall in love Then call it a mistake Why can't people just forgive Why do hearts still break Where was your God when children cried Or when they took each other's lives If someone walks on water Why do people die from thirst If He could save the innocent He would surely be the first At the beginning of time We did something wrong We received our punishment And it's still going on When we were led into temptation Why didn't He lead us out When we were alone, lost, scared Why didn't He help find a safe route The world gets darker day after day Pretty soon it'll all be night Why can't there still be virtue When did wrong outweigh the right Did He write us off as just a lost cause Perhaps He is just too tired to play All I know is that something happened... Maybe God looked the other way |
