                                EASTERN WASHINGTON/IDAHO SOCIETY
                            FOR HEALTHCARE EDUCATION AND TRAINING

                                                                      
Article I - Name
This association is known as the Eastern Washington/Idaho Society for Healthcare Education and Training (EWISHET). 

                                                                
Article II - Objectives
The purpose of this association is to:

1.   Create a network of healthcare educators.

2.   Foster the professional development of its members.

3.   Promote the concept that education is essential to productivity, cost effectiveness and high    
      quality healthcare. 

4.   Encourage coordination among organizations in the education of healthcare personnel. 

                                             Article III - Membership
Section 1.  Membership
Membership is individual, non-transferable and carries voting privileges. 


A. Regular Membersh
ip:  Regular membership in the association is open to individuals who are or have been involved in healthcare education. 

B. Honorary Membersh
ip:  Honorary membership must be approved by the Genral Membership..  Honorary membership is available, upon retirement, to those members who have been active in the association.  There will be no dues for Honorary Membership. 

Section 2.  Membership Application

The application form is sent to the Membership Chair..  The applicant becomes a member upon receipt of dues.  A listing of new members is provided to the General Membership..  


Section 3.  Revocation of Active Membership

Active membership is revoked if dues are not current. 

                                                Article IV - Dues

1. The fiscal year of the association is from January 1 through December 31.  Association dues for the forthcoming year are payable at the final meeting of the year.

2. Annual dues for association membership are set by the General Membership.  Current dues are $20/year.  On recommendation of the General Membership, the dues may be increased or decreased at any annual meeting by affirmative vote of the active membership. 

3. New members accepted for membership after October 1 do not pay annual dues until the next fiscal year. 

4. All dues paid to the association become the property of the association and will not be refunded.


                                       Article V - General Membership
1.  The General Membership has the responsibility to develop programs to fulfill the purposes, objectives and plans for the association.  They will establish the date, location, format and program topics.

2.  The General Membership will establish standing and/or ad hoc committees, and act upon them.

3.  They will appoint two people from the active membership, one of which will be a past treasurer if possible, to conduct an annual audit of the financial records at the end of the fiscal year

                                               Article VI - The Officers

Section 1.  Composition

The Officers consists of the five elected officers, and the chairpersons of standing committees.  The membership elects the officers.  Elected officers are:  -    the President  - the President-Elect  - the Secretary  - the Treasurer  - the immediate Past-President 


Section 2.  Election and Term

A. Nominations for new officers will begin at the August meeting.

B. Final nominations for new officers are closed at the October meeting.

C. Ballots are mailed after the October  meeting by the Nominating Committee.  If nomination activities for new officers result in only one (1) candidate for an elected office, ballots will 
NOT be mailed.  Final acceptance to office for unopposed candidates will be determined by a show of hands at the final meeting of the year. 

D. New officers are installed at the final meeting of the year and assume their duties in January. 

E. An elected officer may serve two (2) consecutive terms in the same office.  One year must lapse before again seeking election to the same office. 

F.  The term of office for each is as follows:
  -the President-Elect- Elected to a three-year term in which the first year is served as President -Elect,                                                 the second year as President, 
                                         and the third year as Past President 
  - the Secretary - A two-year term; elected on the even calendar year.  Office begins on the odd year.
  - the Treasurer - A two-year term; elected on the odd calendar year.  Office begins on the even year.


Section 3.   Duties and Power
s

A.    The President presides at all meetings and gives the casting vote in all cases of a tie and is an ex-officio member of all committees.

B.    The President-Elect presides in the absence of the President and chairs the Programs Committee.

C.    The Past President chairs the Scholarship Committee.

D.    The Secretary presides in the absence of the President and the President-Elect, takes the minutes of all meetings of the association and conducts any needed corresponsdence.  The Secretary also keeps file copies of all announcements, published articles, newsletters and other mementos.

E.    The Treasurer keeps accurate records of all monies of the organization.  An annual budget will be prepared for the final meeting of the year and a written report will be submitted at each quarterly meeting for approval of the membership.  At the end of each fiscal year, the finacial records will be auditied by two active members appointed by the General Membership at the beginning of the new fiscal year.  The Treasurer also serves on the Scholarship Committee.
