After the dramas of last season with Jordan where Ralph had to fight to get out of his contract it was time to start fresh with Williams, and although Williams weren’t as strong as there earlier years they were a team on the way back. Ralph began to deliver up to his potential with 2 early-unexpected podiums, at Melbourne and Silverstone, but again cruel luck robbed him from a certain victory at the Nurburgring when a tyre blew up costing him dearly.This entire aside Ralph comprehensively out shone his teammate Alex Zanardi and had a very impressive year.
