chapter 02
Amanda and Eve woke up early the next morning. They got ready and went downstairs to the lobby to get breakfast.
They ordered breakfast and talked about the case as they ate.
"Who do you think it could be? Like family or friends wise, not names." Eve asked
"I have no idea who it could be, but I know it's someone close. It's got to be." Amanda said
"I agree."
"When are we getting the rest of the records of the crew etc?"
"Murphy said we should get them today. So we can go over them later."
"Okay. So you talked to Josh last night? What'd you think of him, he a stuck-up asshole?"
"No, he's a nice guy. They all are very polite guys."
"On the surface." Eve laughed
Amanda laughed "No shit."
"So what did you talk about?"
"None of your business!"
"Ooo...excuse me. You like him?"
"I don't know?! I just met the guy!"
"Well you know the rules."
"Yes, yes I do. You don't have to remind me all the time."
"Just making sure."
"Well I know the rules already you remind me like every 12 hours. And you telling me not to get involved. And you were the one who goes and takes an assignment, and supposivly falls in love with this person and your not even with him anymore. You barley got in trouble, dad covered your ass. That's not fair...So I bet now if I were to get involved I'd be the one to really get in big time trouble."
"Don't jinx yourself there." Eve said
"That's all you got to say?"
"What's your point."
"You know what....nevermind forget you."
"Alright then."
Just as the two finished their little argument. NSYNC walked up to the table.
"Hi ladies." Joey said
"Hi." They said
"Can we sit down with you?" Justin asked
"Sure."
Justin and Joey sat on the side with Eve. And Josh sat next to Amanda and Chris and Lance sat next to him.
"We haven't met yet. I'm Lance." Lance said to Amanda and Eve.
"Hi it's nice to meet you. I'm Amanda Miller." She shook his hand.
"I'm Marcie Hart." Marcie shook his hand.
"Have you two already ate?" Josh asked
"Yeah. We were just talking a little."
"Were you going to leave?"
"Nah, well stay and chat with you guys."
"Okay."
"You know what?" Joey said "You two look like you could be sisters. In some way."
Marcie and Amanda looked at each other.
"No." They both said.
"Yeah your probably right."
"Yeah."
They all talked for a while. The guys quieted down when they began to eat.
"So any of you guys have girlfriends?" Marcie asked
Amanda looked at her. Marcie mouthed to her 'don't worry' Amanda looked away.
"I do. Everyone knows I'm with Britney." Justin said
"I do. Kelly. She's the mother of my child." Joey said
"You have a kid?" Amanda asked
"Yeah! She's a year and half." Joey smiled at the thought of her.
"That's sweet." Amanda smiled
"Anyone else?" Marcie asked
"I do. Her name is Laura." Lance said
"How long have you been together?"
"Almost a year."
Marcie smiled "Chris, Josh...you two with anyone?"
"No." Josh said
"I do. Her name is Danielle. Been with her for almost 2 years."
"Aw poor Joshie has no girlfriend." Justin joked
The guys laughed
"Shut up!" He said
Everyone laughed.
Amanda's cell phone rang.
"Hello? Ag-...er, this is Amanda." She covered herself up. She looked at Marcie. 'Close call' she thought.
"Amanda it's Brad. I had a background check on one of the crew members. He has a pretty bad criminal record. You and Eve better come check it out." He said
"Ok we'll be there right away. Where are you?"
"At the Denny's about 4 miles away from the hotel."
"Ok we'll be there in about 20 minutes Bye." she hung up her phone.
"We have to go." She told Marcie. "Excuse us."
"Okay. Bye." The guys said
"Thanks for breakfast." Marice said
They walked towards the exit. They went to the car and immeditaly left.
"What the hell is going on Amanda?"
"Brad called and said that he was looking at background checks and one of the crew members lied on their application and they have a pretty bad criminal record...We're meeting him at Denny's."
"Okay...you think this is the guy?"
Amanda sighed deeply. She looked over at her older sister.
"I wish. But I think what we're looking for is real deep and it's going to take time and work to find the guy...or girl."
"I agree."
They drove the rest of the way to Denny's to meet Brad.
"Wonder what that was all about?" Justin asked
"Yeah...they seemed to leave in a hurry." Josh said
"Oh well." Justin said
"Hey JC, why did you come in so late last night? and how did you already know Amanda?" Chris asked
"I was down here at the bar. I saw Amanda there and went and introduced myself." Josh said
"So you wer checkin' her out and went to get some." Joey said
He didn't say anything.
"See I knew it...you like her don't you?"
"I don't know? She's a sweet girl, very attractive. Seems real tough though."
"JC's got a crush!" They all said
"Shut up guys!" He said
1:00 am
Amanda and Eve just got back from looking over the guy that Brad found. He wasn't the one. But he did go to jail for lying on his application and other stuff.
"Oh my god. I'm so tired." Amanda said falling on her bed.
"Same here. I'm going to turn the light off, you ready?" Eve asked
"Let me take my shoes off." She kicked off her shoes and took her jacket off. "Alright."
Eve turned off the light and went to her bed.
"Goodnight Amanda."
"Night E." Amanda mumbled.
The two soon fell asleep.
KNOCK...KNOCK...KNOCK
Eve heard the door and slowly got out of bed.
"What do you want?" She said sleepy as she opened the door.
Five guys with smiles on thier faces stood there.
"Do you always answer the door that way?" Chris asked
"Only to 5 guys that wake me up way too early."
"It's already 11:00"
"So...your point is?"
"What time did you two get back?"
"At like 1 in the morning. Amanda's still passed out." She opened the door more for the guys to see Amanda laying on her bed still in her clothes from yesterday.
They laughed.
"AMANDA! WAKE UP!" They all said walking in.
Amanda jumped up scared. Ready to grab her gun underneath her pillow. Until she noticed the 5 guys.
"What do you want? Leave me alone!" She wiped her eyes and covered her face with the covers.
"Wake up it's morning! Wake up it's morning!" Chris jumped on her bed.
"If you don't stop jumping on my bed I will shoot you." She said. Eve looked at her.
"Dang woman! Your not a morning person." He said
"That's right. Now leave me alone." She grabbed her pillow with the gun inside and stood up going to the bathroom.
She stood in the bathroom. 'That was close. They almost saw my gun...Oh no where's my badge?' She thought to herself. She looked around the bathroom and spotted it on the sink counter. 'Oh thank god!'
She took a shower and got dressed. She came out of the bathroom a half an hour later.
"Finally. We thought you died in there." Josh said
"Nope, not yet...at least."
He laughed. Not knowing the real reason to that comment.
"Where'd everyone go?" She asked
"We all decided to go out for lunch. And Marcie offered you to go. So your going."
"And I suppose I'm giving you a ride?"
"Please?" He put a cute face on. Sticking his lip out.
She laughed "Ok."
"And plus someone needs to protect us so that's why you two are coming instead of bringing big black guys and making it obvious...And there was no more room in the other car."
"Ok. Well you ready?"
"You ready?"
"Yep let's go."
Amanda shut the light off and following Josh out the door leaving for lunch.
Amanda walked into her assigned hotel room. She was about to lay down to rest, when her cell phone rang.
"Agent Jones." She said
"Amanda it's John Murphy, how are you holding up so far?" He said
"Alright the guys are nice."
"Good, good. Well I have some news for you."
"What's that?"
"Johnny told me today that the Grammy's are next week and NSYNC is planning on going. So we will need to have you or Eve go with them to the show, so you can be with them at all times."
"Alright. But as who? What if people suspect me going out with one of them?"
"Does that mean your going?"
"Might as well. I've gotten to know them a little more than Jo."
"Ok well I was thinking maybe you can go as a friend."
"Will it work?"
"Let's hope."
"Alrigt well what day next week?"
"Thursday. Can you go?"
"Yeah....But will we tell the guys? Why am I going?"
"Just ask if you can go cause you want to know what it's like actually being there. Be all excited about it. Say you wanna see someone like...Garth Brooks."
"What? That's you. I'll think of something."
"Okay. Call me back and let me know what's happening."
"Alright bye."
"Bye."
She clicked the end button and walked towards the door. She walked down the hall and went to Josh's room.
She knocked on the door.
Josh got up from the bed and went to the door. He looked through the peak hole and say Amanda standing there. He smiled opening the door.
"What a pleasent surprize." Josh said
"Hi Josh, can I come in?" Amanda said
"Sure."
She walked in the room.
"So what's up?" Josh asked sitting next to her.
"I have a question...I just heard that the Grammy's are next week and...this is really stupid but can I go with you guys?...Cause I want to know what it's like and I want to meet Craig David."
Josh laughed lightly.
"I know it's dumb." She said
"No. I think it's cute...sure you can come. We can say your a friend and your in love with Craig David and wanted to meet him."
She laughed. "Ok that works. Thanks."
"No problem." He smiled.
"Well I'll talk to you later. Have a good evening. Goodnight." She said getting up to leave.
"Same to you." He opened the door for her and she left.
