Olympic Gymnasia 1964 - designed by Kenzo Tange, built in 1964.

The design and construction testify the highly developed industrial society and available technology in Japan in the early 1960s. At the same time, the gracefully curving lines of the buildings make an implicit reference to the silhouettes of Buddhist temple roofs. Through the design, Tange was able to synthesize the qualities of both traditional and modern architectures, thereby linking together the past, present, and even the future.
