Men's costume and accessories

My final attempt up to now was also my first entirely hand-sewn piece. I've decided I really like this hand-sewing business and may be brave enough to attempt a whole dress in the future.

The pattern was given to me by the lovely Mistress Helen of Greyfells whose online site appears to have gone AWOL. It is a (late?) 14th century pattern and meant to be worn with a cotehardie. I do intend to make one of these in the future but the pattern is very complicated so it may be a while before I feel brave enough to try that one.

It is made of 90% wool and 10% nylon(if memory serves). So not entirely period, but at least heading in the right direction. The colour is probably very UN-period, but it was on sale and was the only colour they had other than a very ugly mottley-grey that looked like a bunch of different fabrics met in an accident with a blender.

This is my husband who graciously joins me at SCA events even though he's not terribly interested. I've made 6 or 7 of these shirts and 4 pairs of pants, all identical except for what fibre they're made of. This particular example is "raw silk" for the pants and some random light-weight natural fibre for the top. The hood is hand-stitched linen. The belt is documented on my tablet weaving page
