| This BBC comedy series ran from 1984-1992 and was directed by David Croft. The main character, Rene Artois, a cafe owner, struggles to help both the French Resistance and the German Army with comedic results. The cast has many colorful characters- Rene's annoying, tone-deaf wife; a seductive waitress, who happens to be Rene's mistress; a German general and a nervous German colonel; plus many more... Some episodes of the show are now available on PAL format and DVD - Region 2 format (these can not be played on US players.) It is also shown in the United States on PBS. |
