Ultramorphs Chapter 1 My name is Brittany. I can't tell you much more because in the words of a Pentagon Mission Leader, the enemy is out there. Unlike the pentagon though, we are at war with an Alien race called the yeerks. We are the Ultra-Morphs. Just five kids and 1 Andilite alien that helps us. The enemy is unlike any ever fought on earth terrain. Overall, their just a bunch of slugs that crawl into your ear and take over your brain. You never know who is a controller (person controlled by a yeerk) and who isn't. Well, here is my first story. I couldn't sleep. Ever since we went back to the pod that Sarah crashed in when she landed here, I keep having strange dreams. Someone keeps calling to me, a voice. I just can't get it out of my head. I'm not really sure what it wants or how I can help it, which is that part that bugs me. And ever since I got these powers, every time I morph into an animal, I get really weak and lightheaded. But when I'm still in a morph, I feel this awesome power, like I was ment to have the power. It's an uncontrollable urge to go fight the yeerks single handily. And even though part of me, the real me, knows I'm just a human and can't do that by myself, when I'm in a morph I feel a great hate against the yeerks like they killed someone special to me and I want them to suffer. But of course I couldn't tell everyone else. Justin would say that it was nothing, Austin might want to do a catscan on me, Zac might want to take me to the mental asylum, and Becka would just laugh and giggle her snotty little way that really bugs me. Sometimes I know that they dont care. They never really did before. I got tired of it a long time ago and ever since then I became a really loud person, just to get attention. I still am a loud person because I still havent achieved my goal, for my friends to act like friends. My life was boring before I got the power to morph. Everyone says that theirs is now new and exciting, I agree so they wont think Im strange. But I always lie when I say it. My life is just more miserable and now I cant sleep. Sometimes I just want the power to go away. ****** I woke up one Saturday morning by Austin and Sarah in hawk morph screeching at me to get up, literally screeching. <Hey Brittany-> Austin was cut off. "Ahhhhhh!" I screamed waking up from one of my more resent nightmares Id had before since I got the power to morph. <AHHH!> Austin said startle. <Ahhhh.> replied Sarah in her normal voice unaware of what we were screaming about but trying to go along with it anyway. "Cant a person get at least 8 hours of sleep anymore!! Why dont you just use the phone!! Or Ill give you a walkie talkie I bought with my own money and you annoy me with that!!" I said in my grouchy mood Ive go in when I first get up. <I didnt want you to be late for the meeting at Zacs in 2 hours.> Austin said in his normal voice, use to me being uncooperative at times. "Well, if Sarah wants she can wait in here while Im in the shower but I would like to ask you and all other males to leave the premises while Im trying to get up." I said going to the window still in my jamies. <See you in 2 hours then.> Austin said flying away as I greeted Sarah into my room. It doesnt take me that long to get awake in the morning, (a good trait I have). But once I get my shower and get dressed I get really hungry, (somewhat of a bad trait because my parents sleep in till noon). But at least this time it was a good thing so that I didnt have to spend my bit of allowance left to feed Sarah and I. So we went down stairs very quietly, and I garbed my wind breaker, my book-bag, a box of breakfast bars, and headed out the door with Sarah now in human morph. "Who are those Earthlings there?" Sarah asked pointing to my neighbors house. "Oh thats Rachel, 3 of her friends, and her new pet bird. Shes pretty cool." I said watching them exit her house and walk past us. "Hi Brittany. Are you going to be able to baby-sit Chassidi tonight?" Rachel asked coming to a stop. "If things work out, Id love to." I said with a smile at the thought of the sweet miniature version of Rachel. "Great. Whos your friend?" she asked. "This is my---uh--- this is Austins cousin from Illinois." I said quickly. "Well this is Jake, Cassie, Marco, and my bird Tobias." Rachel replied. "Yes, I believe Ive met the bird before. Youve gotta keep a better eye on him Rachel." I said jokingly. "Well he likes the idea of trying to catch his own food. Listen, we gotta go but Ill se you later." She said. And so we bid each other good-bye and went our sperate directions. "They are interesting species." Sarah said a few minuets later. "Yeah, but I wonder what happened to that other boy she used to hang out with. Now he was cute. For an older gut I mean." I said thinking about his dark mysterious look and his hair that lay there in its natural wavy way. "What are we going to do at the present time?" Sarah questioned. "I thought we would go over to the mall for awhile. I wanted to pick up a few things." I said. "When will we consume nutrients into out digestion system?" she asked. "Uh, we might stop to eat at the park. Thats what the breakfast bars are for. And they save money to. That is, my money." I replied. At the mall I had just the right amount of money for the new computer journal I wanted. And then I had a little left over for two slushies. My personal favorite was banana-rama-lama-swirl. Sarah wanted a cherry flavored one, (typical alien. Always take the simple things when you could have something more, and when you dont have that much, they want something thats earthly impossible with our technology. Not that Ive met that many aliens though). We also got to Zacs house on time, something thats unusual for me. Of course Becka got there 15 minuets earlier. Big whoop! So we talked for awhile until Justin finally got there and then he started to complain about how he had just had a dream about Britney Spears and how he was just about to say I do at the wedding alter and Austin woke him up. Personally, I cant see how he can live in a apartment that close to all that traffic and get any sleep at all. But I guess thats my advantage of living in the suburbs. "Weve got to plan on what our next move against the yeerks will be. It seems like every punch we throw them takes no effect." Zac said. <We are all just beginning in our fight against the yeerks. You cannot expect to defeat them off the planet in one battle.> replied Sarah in her real shape. "Hey guys. Have you watched the news lately?" Austin asked. "No why? Did they find a piece of an alien spaceship?" Becka asked in a sarcastic way. "As a matter of fact...." Austin said. "Oh come on get real. As if! I mean if there were such things as--" Becka stooped. <As aliens. If there were no such thing as aliens then what would that make me. And the yeerks. And your power to morph. It makes it real Becka.> replied Sarah. "Well, I had to record if for my dad who was at work. And its a good thing too. Here let me show you." said Austin taking a video tape out of his book-bag and putting it in the VCR in Zacs room. The tape was about a piece of strange metal they found down on the beach. A fisherman found it tangled up in his net or something. It had strange writing on it. A lot like that of the inside of Sarahs pod. And then as if for no reason at all, I fainted. Chapter 2 I kept falling and falling in this tunnel. It wasnt dark, but it wasnt extremely lit up either. It looked like one of those little things that hypnotize people, but all along the walls there were little sparks of electricity, would be a way of describing it. And then I fell into this large room. Or maybe a hall. The walls were of the color of a creamy sky blue. It had a reasonable amount of light but no windows and no light fixtures either. I had fallen in the middle of it. My eyes searched the walls and floor. There was only a strange object at one end. It looked like one of those things at museums that cause static electricity. But the ball part didnt exactly look solid. And the color changed around from many. It was a light green, then faded into a dark blue, then faded into a lighter blue, and so on. I rose to my feet and approached the object. The table like part it set on went up to my waist and the ball was an extra 6 inches that like I said, set on the top of the table. But with a closer observation I noticed that the ball didnt sit on the table but sort of levitated, above the table. The best substance I can describe the ball being of was some sort of energy. Then I had a strong longing to touch the ball. To examine the ball closer. My mom once said that I had eyes on my fingers because I always wanted to touch things, or pick up things in a store and just roll it around in my hands. Thats exactly what I wanted to do with the ball. So, giving in, I lifted my had, stepped another step closer, and touched the ball. The ball stopped changing colors. And as if I had broke it, it seemed to stop the energy moving within it. Then a strange beam, a golden light burst out from it. I was started greatly and jumped away from it. My heart began to beat fast, my pulse went up, and I watched as the beam of light traveled to the middle of the hall. And from the light, a woman appeared. She looked like what you would think a wife of a great Roman king would look like. She had a long white robe that resembled the robe that the Statue of Liberty wore. She didnt have a book or a torch, but she wore her chestnut brown hair up on her head in a way I cant describe. She wore a pair of white sandals, and her skin could be described as a very pale color, or almost as white as her flock. The beamed stopped and it looked as if the woman herself were now glowing with the same golden light. "Welcome to the hall of Elements my dear child." she spoke with somewhat of a mysterious ecko to it and a pure tone of sweetness. "We had expected your arrival sooner." she said. "Who are you?" I questioned, my heart still beating. "I am a Gardian of the Elements. I guard the element of life. I am what is known to you as a Eleimist. I am a mother of many children of the Universe, but very veiw are my real blood. But you are my one of real children Anita. You are daughter of Gregory Baron." She said. "There must be some mistake. My name is Brittany. My dads name is Kithe--" I was cut off. But not by her voice. I was told to stop by some strange feeling I had inside me. "Yes. We did not expect you would remember your father. He died when you were very young. That is why you were placed on Earth with another kind family that would prevent you from having the same fate as you father. And now that the murder of your father has came to Earth, we must give you a gift to fight him the enemy with. "Has it really been that long since Ive last saw you? Youre quite a young lady. Nicely fed and clothed I see." she said. "I dont understand what your talking about. My mother and father have pictures of my. A picture of me when I was brought home form the hospital. A birth certificate. My social security number. How could what you say be true?" I stressed. "It was all created for you so that you could live a normal Earthling life. So you could be happy. My dear sweet child come here. Let me see our child one last time." The woman said with a tear in her eye. So I obeyed and came closer and looked into her eyes with confusion. And saw her look back at me with love. I saw something in her face. Something firmilar. I couldnt place it though. "Yes. A fine girl you are." she said placing her hand on my cheek and holding my head there. I felt a strange feeling go though me. She still looked to me with love and said, "Ive told you far too much already. Your have your fathers brilliance. You will learn the rest later. We will miss you dearly my daughter." I looked at her puzzled as she moved her hand to her side and raised the other with a strange object in it. "Good-bye my love." she said before I could speak. Then she took the object and placed it to my forehead. I felt a sudden jolt like I did after I got the power to morph. And then before I could say another word or take another look at the gracefull woman, I woke up. Chapter 3 "Call an ambulance Justin!" Zac said sitting over me placing a pillow under my head for support. "Are you okay? Here, drink this." Austin said handing me a cup of water and sitting on the floor beside me. <Can you speak? Can you see? Can you hear?> Sarah said nervously worried. "Im--Im fine I think. Just let me get up......." I said sitting up. "Hello, operator we need an Ambulance." said Justin into the phone. "I dont need an Ambulance. Ill be fine." I said siping the ice cold water. "Okay we dont need an Ambulance." Justin said into the phone before he hung it up. "Here, put this on your forehead," said Becka handing me a damp bathcloth. "You sure youre okay?" Zac asked. "Yeah, I just need to stand up and get some blood circulating to my head." I said rubbing a bumb on the back of my head and holding the bathcloth with the other. "Okay, just take it slow." Austin said helping me up on one side and Becka helping up on the other. "Owwww!" I squalled from a sharp intense pain in my stomach. "I said take it slow!" Austin shouted while I fell to ground once again, this time falling slower and falling because of pain, not faintness. "I need to get home." I growned. "Okay Brittany. I bought the faint. You win. But this act of yours now is just too much." said Becka. I just ignored her as I sat up again and morphed into a hawk. "Where are you going?" Zac asked. <I dont have to take this. Open the window and let me out.> I said now fully changed into a hawk. "Youre in no condition to fly." Austin said. "Yeah, she might have a beak on collision. You know what they say, Dont fly dingy." joked Justin. "If thats what they say then Brittany is in store for a lot of driving tickets." Teased Becka. <Becka, if want to talk about dingy, then notice your bleach blond hair. Oh Im sorry. I forgot that you were also a dumb blond you snotty idot!> I said right before I flew out the open window of Zac's house. I just flew off. I didn't stop, I didn't slow down my speed, I just flew. If I were in my human form, I knew I would have burst out in tears. I couldnt tell the others what happened to me in my dream. It couldnt have been just a dream. I knew I had a strong imagination but there was no way I couldve made that up. I needed someone to talk to. Then as I flew to my window I was knocked down by another hawk. Tobias! <Ahh! Stupid bird! Get off me! If you could talk, in 10 seconds flat you would have whiplash from a verbal assault!!> I said flying back up to my window again. <Wh--what did you say?> said a voice nearby. <Zac? Austin? Justin? Who said that.> I said going wide eye with fright. <Me, Tobias.>
Chapter 4 <Ahhhhhh!!!!! You can thought speak!! Im going crazy!! Its from when I fainted. I must be delirious! I need to change back.> I said flying into my room, scattering feathers everywhere. <Youre Brittany arent you?> said the bird perching on my window seal. I morphed back then walked over to Tobias. "Listen you-- now how can y--- why didd-- uhhh!! How can you talk!!" I shouted. <How can you morph?> He asked me. "Sarah gave me the power. Now answer my question." I said. <I got trapped in morph. Elfangor gave me the power.> he said. "Who is Elfangor? A controler!?" I guessed. <NO. He is-- well he was an Andilite.> he said. "What, did he get trapped in morph too?" I said. <No. Visser III killed him. Right after he gave us the power to morph.> said Tobias. "I thought Sarah was the only Andilite here. She never talked about anyone else." I said again puzzled. <No. As a matter of fact, the others are in the ocean now trying to rescue another one. One that crashed.> he said. "That explains what happened on the news! But how come I fainted after I watched the replay of it?" I said mainly to myself. <You fainted too?> he asked "What do you mean--" I said. <When I watched it I fainted also.> He said. "Did you just find out your from another planet too?" I asked him. <No--> he started. "Now what about these others youre talking about? Who are they?" I asked. <I almost forgot. I have to get back.> he said flying out the window. "Wait!! Where are you going?!" I shouted out to him leaning out the window. I woke up a few hours later from my peaceful nap. I realized that I didnt have a bad dream this time. The hole day had made up for it though. The hole day had been a nightmare of its own. I decied I would surf on the net for a little while, not very appeasing though. So I played around on my new PC game, Zombie Zap. Chapter 5 I came in though the door this time. My mom and dad were in the den fighting it out again. They had so many fights recently. Mostly over petty little things. I heard some loud shouts and then a door slam. I heard someone stomp up the stairs and go into my parents room. I went out into the hall and peaked in though the crack between the door and door frame. My dad was in there. Packing a suit case. He placed shirts, shorts, pants, underwear and his shaving things in it. He took his wallet from the dresser and put it in his back pocket. He zipped up the suitcase and walked out the door. I moved out of the way and he saw me. "Hi sweety." he said as he placed his suitcase down beside him. He hugged me and then went on down the stairs with his suitcase and out the door. I looked down from the balcony. My mom was sitting on the couch, crying silently. I knew what had happened. Nothing need to be explained to me. My Aunt Becky says that sometimes, silence just helps colm people. I cant stand silence so I went back to my room, shut the door, and cranked up my the volume on my NSYNC CD. I just wanted to lay there on my bed in my room with the sky blue paint. I felt like my room could shelter me from the harsh realities from life. <Brittany.> A voice said to me from outside my window. <Tobias?> I asked unaware I spoke in thought speech. I opened the window and let him in out of the rain. <Did you just thought speak while you werent in morph?> he asked puzzled. "I--I--I dont know." I said shutting my window. <Are you okay? You look like youve had a hard day.> he said. "Extremely. First the Andilite thing on TV. Then I fainted and had a strange dream. I met you, I got covered in some orange chemical, and my dad just left the house with a suitcase." I said after turning down the volume of my stereo. <Uhh, could you explain any of that?> he asked. "Maybe another time. I just want this rain to stop. Just thinking about the way the water falls to the ground and then starts a whole new cycle, it bores me." I said before a strange feeling came over me. "I think Im morphing but I dont know into what." I said right before I turned into what Austin would call, a liquid form, and then into a puddle of water. <What did you do?!> Tobias shouted. <I dont know! I just thought of water and I turned into this! I morphed or something. But not to an Animal.> I said moving around on the floor in my water form. <Try to think of something dry like sand or something.> Tobias said flying above me. It worked! I morphed back to my original state. I felt like I do right after a morph from an Animal. But only more tired. "Whoa. I need to sit down." I said. <Do you think it might be a side effect from the chemical spill?> Tobias asked. "I dont know. It could be possible. But Im not sure." I need a pillow. And automatically, a pillow levitated its way over to me. "What!?" I said. <What did you think about?> He asked. "I just thought about moving the pillow over to me. I concentrated hard and it came over. Like telekensis! This is too strange." I said now going to my bed. <See if you can do anything else.> he said "Like what?" I asked <I dont know. I thought that a minuet ago you talked in thought speech when you werent in morph. Try that again.> he said. "Okay let me concentrate again." I said. <Testing. Testing. Can you hear me....> I said. <It worked. I didnt know it was possible. How long has it been since youve been contaminated?> he asked. <I think about half an hour. Oh and speaking of time, I gotta go baby-sit Chassidi in an hour.. Oh and Tobias, please dont tell anyone I have the power. And please dont tell anyone about the chemical spill.> I said. <Dont worry. Im a silent preditor.> he said as he flew out the window. Chapter 6 I zoned out for awhile watching TV. I stopped when the movie I was watching ended. I suddenly came back to reality and remembered the time and remember my longing to see my friend. I couldnt wait to see Rachel again. She was one of my view friends that I had. I had know her ever since I moved in that house when I was 2. She had always been like a big sister or a cousin to me. And our parents really got along with each other too. "Mom, I have to go to Rachels. I think Ill eat supper there ok?" I said as I opened the door and attempted to go out in the drizzley and cold evening weather. "Okay." my mom said from the couch watching TV. "Hey Rachel." I said coming inside her house and taking off my coat. "Hey. Do you want some pop corn? My friend Cassie and I are watching a movie. Chassidis in there too." she said closing the door. "Sure." I said. "Brittany! I havent seen you for a while." said Chassidi coming over and hugging me. She was still in the Primary grades like my brother. "Hi. Sorry. Ive just been really busy lately." I said. "Hi Brittany." Cassie said from the couch. "Hi Cassie." I said. Knock Knock. Came a noise on the door. Followed by Rachel greeting in a few of her friends. "Hey Brittany. You remember Jake and Marco right?" she said. "Yeah. Hi guys." I said. Rachel once said that she had a cousin named Jake. He wasnt very cute, but he looked a lot like Rachels family often looked like. Marco closed the door after a firmilar hawk I knew. Tobias of course. <Hey Brittany.> Tobias said to me. <Can they hear you and me speeking?> I asked him. <Not if we dont want them to.> he said. <Okay.> I said. "What movie are you watching? A chick flick?" Marco asked trying to steal the pop corn from Cassie. "Hands off rat boy." Cassie said slapping his hand. The night went on much like that. I had a fealing that I was more or less hanging out with Rachel than baby-sitting Chassidi. "Hey Rachel and Cassie. Can Marco and I see you in the kitchen?" Jake asked. "Sure. Come on Tobias." Rachel said. They went into the kitchen and closed the door. I snuck up next to the door and listened to their conversation. "When are we going to make another move on the yeerks?" Cassie asked. "I dont know yet. I just wanted to spend some time with my friend. Just to remember what it was like to have a normul life again." Rachel said. Scratch Scratch. Was a sound from the door in the kitchen that led to the side yard. I heard the door open and some one walk in. "Hey Ax. You doing okay on Earth?" Jake asked the incomer. "Greetings and Salutations Prince Jake." said the boy. "Hows Andilite life man?" Marco asked. "Im not sure how to answer that question." Ax said. "An Andilite." I wispered to myself. It must have been the Andilite Tobias said something about saving. <What was that?> Tobias asked everyone and also I knew me to somehow. "It was from the out the livingroom door." Said Jake. Uhh-Oh. I thought. They must have heard me. The door was opened by Cassie and I fell in on the floor. "Uhhh, hi guys." I said getting back up. Cassie closed the door behind me and all eyes stared at me and then at each other. "Controler." Jake said under his breath. "What!? No I dont like the idea of slugs crawling around in my head." I said jokingly. "I cant belive my own neighbor would spy on us for Visser III." Rachel said. "Thats not you neighbor. Thats a yeerk." said Marco "I--I--I can explain guys. Im not a controller. Honest!" I said. "Thats just what a controller would say to save themselvs from being discovered." Jake said. <Guys no!! I met Brittany today while she was in hawk morph. She was just courious what we were talking about. I know her guys. She is not a controller.> Tobias said. <Youve got to believe me. How else could I talk to you in thought speech.> I said to all of them. "That coulnt have been real. None of us can thought speeck in nartural form." said Rachel. "Watch this than." I said preparing to turn into a hawk. "I think we should listen to Tobias." Rachel said. "I think we should keep her locked up for three days, just to make sure shes safe." Jake said. "This girl is no controller. I can sense it. Although she does posess a great power." said Ax. "Okay then. I think we should believe Tobias and Ax." said Cassie. "Are you nuts? This guy is blue and the other lives in a tree!!" Marco complained. <You know Marco, you reminde me of someone.> I said thinking about Justin. "Yeah like Visser Three. How is the old guy? Had anough of taking over older brothers and now he wants to start in on the liars!" Jake said coming over to me like he was going to murder me. Luckly Cassie and Rachel held him back. "Jake, we have to trust her. We need all the help we can get." Cassie said. <Listen, if it makes you feal any better, Ill stay under your suppervision for three days. Just to prove to you Im not a controller.> I said perching on the counter. "Okay then. See? Settled." Rachel said. "Rachel, you need to call her mom and tell her that shell be staying with a friend for a few days. Then later Ill fly in her window and get her some things." Cassie said handing Rachel the phone. Chapter 7 Marco put a paper bag on my still hawk head. Jake put me in a bird jacket that Cassie just happened to have in her bookbag. (Not a coat or anything, but one of those bird type strait jackets). I felt being put into a basket on either the back or the front of a bike and drove off somewhere. Like I said, I had a paper bag over my head, so I couldnt see where we were going. When I was let go I was put into a pen that you would keep a large animal in. There was a blanket and a pillow already provided for me. They removed the paper bag, the jacket, and then they locked me in the cage. I changed back to my normal state and settled in for awhile making a bed out of the hay in the floor of the cage. Jake had the first shift to watch me. Then Ax had to take over when Jake needed to go home. From then on Tobias and Ax alternated shifts. I talked to Tobias for awhile before I fell asleep in the hay bed. "Put her stuff in there while shes asleep. Put a bowl a water in there too Rachel. Ill give her some food." I heard Cassie say the next morning. "Hey." Rachel said setting things in there when she noticed I was awake. "What time is it?" I asked sleepingly. "Its 10:00 Earth time. Sorry, I dont know where I put the watch that I set for yeerk time." Jake said walking in. "Come on, give her a brake. Shes been in there all night and hasnt tried to escape yet." Rachel said. "Heres breakfast." Cassie said bringing in some food and then locking the pen again. "Wow! Oatmeal and Grape Juice! MMmmm. Oooh. Maple flavored Oatmeal too. My favorite." I said. Jake, Rachel, Cassie, and Ax all watched me eat the oatmeal. It was quite good actually. "Oatmeat. Nice." said Marco walking in. <So, she past the Oatmeal test. What do you think about that Jake?> Tobias said who had been silently watching from one of the beams in the cealing. "Hmmmm. It could be an illusion that the yeerk is creating." Jake said. "Why dont you give her a break Jake? Just shut up once in a while my friend. Listen, she still has 2 1/2 days left and I think shell make it." said Marco. "I gotta go." Jake said leaving the barn. I made it through the day fine. I got really bord but when I did I just drifted off to sleep. The second day came and they still kept me on a oatmeal based diet. I got over the smell of barnyard animal smells, though the smell was manly unpleasnt. <How are you doing?> Tobias asked flying in for his shift on the last day. <Im bored here. I really need to get out of here. Its a good thing Ill be leaving today. I dont think I can stand being couped up.> I said to him in thought speach so no one else would hear. <Yeah, I guess thats how anyone would feal.> He said smpatheticaly. I feal asleep again and woke up with Jake coming in the pen I was in. No one else was in the barn. "Listen, I dont know what your deal is but I dont like the idea of having you around. Even if you arnt a controller I dont like you just the same. Theres something about you that I just cant trust. I dont want you around my cousins anymore that you have to be either." He said looking at me strait in the eyes. "I dont think I like you much either you arengant pig. I thought from all the great things Rachel has told me about you, you would be a great guy. Yeah, but I guess everyone is wrong sometimes." I said coldly back to him. "Youre lucky youre a girl," He said walking out of the pen. I thought about asking him if he wanted a piece of me. Thats just part of my Barbarien traits I get from the males in my family. "Hey guys. How are you doing?" Rachel asked walking into the barn. "Well, considering Im being held up in a animal perserv against my will," I started jokingly as I got up and dusted the strawl off my pants. "Its almost sundown. Well let you go an hour after dusk." She said placing her bookbag on a stole in the corner. "You can leave Rachel, its still my shift." Jake said still in his attutide problem. "I just wanted to come by and--" "You can leave Rachel." He said again, this time more sternly. "Okay, see you guys later." Rachel said walking out. Chapter 8 It was finaly time for me to leave. I was bid good-bye bye by Cassie and Ax. Tobias was going to fly with me home that night. I was glad to leave there. When I got up to my room my phone rang. "Hello?" I asked. "Hey, Brittany. Is your mom there?" my dad said on the other line. "No, she wasnt here when I got in." I said. "Okay, when whe gets in tell her I called." he said. "You okay dad? I really dont know what happened that afternoon with you and mom." I said. "Dont worry about it sweety. Your mom and I just need some time away from each other for awhile. I gotta go. Bye," he said hanging up. I couldnt stand the thought of my parents getting divorced. Id saw before on TV how the parents always told the kids that is wasnt the kids falt or anything. And everytime the parents said they just needed some time away from each other, divorce was usally what it led to. I thought my parents already had anough time apart. With their jobs, they were just getting farther apart already. <Ill be out in a tree somewhere.> Tobias said flying away. <Bye.> I said to him. "Im home. Anyone here?" I herd my mom downstairs. "In my room." I shouted to her. "Hey." she said coming into my room. "Dad called." I said. "Yeah. I think we need to tell you something. But I want you to remember its not your fault." she started the long speach. It turned out that my parents were getting a divorece. My dad was going to move into an apartment for awhile and my younger brother and I were going to live with mom until the divorce settlement. They wanted joint custidy and wanted to divide all their other assets between the both of them. My four friends where off battleing the yeerks I guess. I didnt really care what those Ultra-Morph traiters did. But my life was just getting worse. Maybe another time I can help them again, but now I need my space and time. |
