Basil had a severe allergic reaction to his Bio Spot on 7/13, which I found out is one of the most toxic products on the market. I found this out when I came home to a very sick boy. I noticed he was more lethargic this weekend and he seemed to be vomiting and having runny poop more than usual. But, I thought he was just drinking too much water as his common for him. Well, Tuesday I came home to a soiled pen area. I rushed him to the vet. He did not have any neurological damage and, after running blood tests, no organ damage. He had one elevated liver enzyme but the vet will only worry about that if he becomes sick again. She pumped him full of fluids so that he looked like a camel, gave him some injections, and sent him home with meds and a special diet. He improved quickly and seems to be back to his normal self again.

Our next vet visit for TPLO follow up is July 28th. The surgeon is in town so they'll sedate him and take xrays. Hopefully, we'll be able to start going for short walks. Basil is bearing full weight on his limb much of the time. He's got the stairs mastered. I still use the sling but only just in case he slips. He takes each step one at a time. I feel so impatient with him sometimes - mostly in the early morning when he wakes me up to go potty then noses around. I feel like such a bad mommy.

Anyway, I'm sure I'm going to take him back to basic obedience as soon as I can. Right now, he gets pretty much everything he wants (within safety reason) because he can't play and be a puppy right now. This is not an easy road but I'm sure it will pay off in the end. I have stopped the Rimadyl since his reaction to Bio Spot and he seems to be doing fine off of it.
