Dear Friends:
As we write to you about our request, we are thinking back to
the many competitions and opportunities we have had to meet people who love Taekwondo like
we do. We have made friends from across Canada and around the world that have not only
shown us new techniques but truly have become lifelong friends. We all are striving to
represent our countries in the next Olympics and with this common desire we are all able
to truly appreciate our sport.
The Universiade Games are in Turkey during August of 2005,
and while we will represent Canada, Canada will not cover our travel costs. This event is
for elite student-athletes and is a great opportunity for us to compete and learn more
about our challengers.
We have never appealed for financial help before, as we did
not wish to be greedy or pushy in our desires to represent Canada. But we have reached our
threshold for covering our training costs and have to find alternative ways to cover our
expenses. We have organized a special training seminar that will help us greatly in the
$4400 we need to raise (each plane ticket is approximately $2200 each) but we still need
to look for additional support. This is what we are hoping you can help us with today.
Any amount will aid us in our hope to get to Turkey. We have
to pay for our tickets by July XX, 2005 and it is our hope that you will be able to help
us out.
We thank you for the opportunity to share our request and our
hopes for our competition future and are very grateful for any support you can afford. We
appreciate your generosity and promise to all our family, supporters and Canadians to
represent our country well.
