Evadne's Recs
Rec Tags
I had intended to format my recs super nice for you, and use my mad circa-1998 HTML skillz, but it turns out that I have a lot--no joke, a lot--of rec bookmarks, and also that I am lazy.  So, instead, I have my recs at a del.icio.us page here, all nice and tagged for you, and you can also see how I am a total follower and everything I rec has also already been recced by 43092804382 people.  Or you can click on the tag of your choice at left.

There's nothing worse than a rec page that accidentally leads you to a hooker AU deathfic (or, alternately, a fluffy crackfic, if death stories are more your speed).  I'll tell you this right off the bat: this is a deathfic-, rapefic-, and hooker AU-free zone.  Unless, you know, I change my mind.  Generally, I have a weakness for middling-length, mildly angsty, humorous stories; I like happy ends, and will make a note if I rec a story that doesn't have one.

Bandom is my current favorite thing ever.  The fic is so good, you guys.  While looking for more bandslash last week, I found this "obscure trivia about Patrick Stump" quiz or whatever, and I took it, and got a 7 out of 10, and this was two weeks into my foray into bandom and having heard only one complete Fall Out Boy song...and, admittedly, seven YouTube videos where the band cracks jokes at each other.  And the video for "A Little Less Sixteen Candles," which reads like any number of FOB/Fueled by Ramen AUs--I saw a primer that describes Pete as a BNF of his own band, and I think that that...is about right.  Pete, giving a tour of his parents' house for Fuse or something, described the computer room as "where the magic happens" as he hastily shut down the browser window where he'd been reading his own message board.  This makes reading fic feel a little dirty, like it's exactly what Pete wants me  to do.  Well, not me, probably, because I'm about as likely to buy records or concert tickets or Clandestine hoodies as I am to grow a third arm.  Not that I'd object to a third arm.  On the other hand (a phrase that wouldn't work if I actually had a third arm--the third arm is busy beating that joke to death), they seem pretty sincere, generally, and work too hard to just be in it for hookers and blow (or Hookers and Blow: The Reality Show)--you know, inasmuch as one can tell these things from YouTube videos.  And I can almost guarantee you that by the time you read five semi-decent stories in this fandom, you will totally, totally love Patrick, unless your heart rates a 10+ on the Mohs scale.  I'll also add a bunch of mostly Panic at the Disco-centered AUs--bandom does fun AUs really well.

I always come back to SGA and due South--it's not the shows that I love, but the skill of the authors who write about them.  I'll add plenty of those, and other odds and ends as I find them.

And for the love of god, people, Claudia and I would be deeply in your debt if you'd write us some 21 Jump Street slash.
