Day fourteen: Switzerland! Exotic Switzerland!   april 29 2003
We went to Switzerland today!! Awesome place. So pretty, all the mountains. Swizerland is only a half hour from Mulhouse, but Alsace is near two more hours away. We went to the museum of transportation in the morning. Shannon had been there before in grade four, so for her it was so cool to be back. We saw a Imax movie on the stars. That was interesting; at least we had translators. Morgan and Lisa did not. Shannon had been there before in grade four, so for her it was so cool to be back. We found the gumball machine, which is now just a ball. It was so cool! We watched it three times before we left for bigger things. Bigger things meaning Shannon and I pretending to be giants on the cool aerial view of Switzerland. We got to wear those funny red slippers with the white cross on them too. Fun stuff.       After stomping on Switzerland, we got our picture taken in the same prop up dolls that her and her brother Graham had gotten their picture taken when she had been there years ago. That was funny. Then we went into the plane. I don't even know why; I've had my share of planes at this point. The train display was pretty impressive though. We found a pinball machine! Now figure out what that has to do with transportation. Watching the litte ball move? Hehe. That was fun. We wanted to buy souvenirs in the gift shopt thing, but Switzerland is on Swiss Francs, and not Euros! Luckily Lisa had some Swiss Francs, so we just borrowed some money from her for postcards.. hmm... I still owe her money.... hehehhehe.
All the people from Mountview got their picture taken with their old grade two teacher who now lives in Switzerland. That was cool. I got one for Shannon. We got on the bus and at our lunches there.
In the afternoon, we went SHOPPING! Yay! We actually found a mall below ground. It was cool. Shannon Lisa and I all got cool clothes; Shannon and I got shirts, and Lisa a skirt. All of our clothing was red... And the store actually took Euros! It just converted the change to Swiss Francs. Very cool. After our shopping needs were satisfied, we spent our change on peach ice tea and chocolate. yum. We went into a shop very similar to our Future Shop, and they were playing S.W.Ep.II. I was like, Ewan! Ahem.
We drank our ice tea outside, by the lake in Alsace. It was so beautiful, with the mountains and the chapel and the town. There was even a swan swiming by. It came out, and a dog came up to it. It turned into a dragon and hissed. Very impressive
We were late getting back, like an hour and a half late or so because of the traffic. We had spaghetti for supper, finally something I recognise. Aude and I had a birthday party to go to [for Jo, the guy who had had the surprise birthday party; he had invited close friends to come and celebrate as well, so we went again] and it was awesome to see people I knew again! We went to his house, and just hung out. Alime was there! I was pretty excited about that. We all just hung out together, and at ten or so Shannon showed up. It was a good night, and we really got to use our french because they didn't know any english. Well very limited english. We just spent the whole night talking and having a blast. And of course we got to bed at a very reasonable hour.. and all...
