Frequently Asked Questions

How much are dues?
Dues are $2.00 a month, or 50¢ a week.  If a scout has purchased a merit badge pamphlet and wishes to donate it to our
troops library, we usually credit this donation as one months dues.  We have a similar policy for class A shirts, class A pants
that scouts have grown out of.

When can dues be paid?
Dues may be paid weekly, monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, annually or in any increment desired.  Most people pay monthly.

What does participating in events cost?
A troop camp out usually costs $7.00, district events (such as the Spring Camp-o-rees and Klondike derby) usually cost
$3.00-$5.00 more and includes a patch for participation.  These are usual costs, but may vary.  Changes will be posted on
the calendar and other info will be made available to scouts at meetings.
Summer Camp 2003 will cost $175 ($160 if paid by April 21).  For more information on Summer Camp go click here.

When is money and permission slips due for an event ?
Permission Slips are due two meetings before the event.
Money is due the meeting before the event.

Why do you need a permission slip?
It provides proof that we have permission to transport your youth to and from an event and also contains contact information         in the event we need to get a hold of you while we are at our activity.
It also gives us an idea of how many people are participating in an event.  Certain stages of planning, such as transportation,          require the number of participants.

Where do I get a permisson slip?
Permission slips are available at the Scout Room, page 18 in the "Scouting Handbook for Parents", and by clicking here on
    this website.

Your talking about a lot of money.  What if I don't have that kind of money, can my son still participate?
Let an adult leader know of your situation as soon as possible.  There are scholarships available but are limited and usually
awarded on a first come, first serve basis.

Do you have a print version of your policies and regulations?
Yes, we do have a book called "Scouting Handbook for Parents" and is available at the Scout Room.

You haven't answered my question.  Now what?
I would like to anticipate all your questions, but unfortunatly I will eventually miss one.  That is when it comes time to ask an
adult leader in person, and we will get you an answer.
