The Beginning
RING. The bell ends the school day. The hallways are filled with people, students and teachers alike. In a hurry to get home, or to get to practice. Tom Gallo is part of the schools star football team. He rushes out to the field dressed in his uniform and pads, late. Tom gets pumped up and gets ready to play. First passing the football back and forth with his partner Jonathan. Tom is one of the best on the team.
Meanwhile, Matt is getting ready for track practice. He stands in the field stretching out with a few friends. All are talking about the school day. As he stretches out, he sees a girl sitting alone on the bleachers. She's a thin beautiful girl, and he just stares. She had short brown hair, with blonde streaks, green eyes, and she's wearing a short black skirt, a white spaghetti stripe shirt, and black platform shoes. She sits there watching practice.
"Hey, Megan, see that girl over there?" Matt asks. "Is she new? I haven't seen her around the school before."
"Yeah, she just transferred in this afternoon. I think her name is Cara. She just came from Ireland" replied Megan. "Ah, hey, you better be careful with her, she's the new headmaster's daughter."
Matt just stares in amazement. Surprised, "She's the Headmaster's daughter? Hmm...That's a challenge."
Christina and Vinny leave the school and go to get supplies they need for the party they're throwing for Mike's Birthday. As they enter the store, "You go get the drinks and chips and stuff, I'll go get the paper stuff. Ok?" Christina yells out to Vinny.
Vinny yells back, "Yea, yea. I got it." He then goes down the aisles in search of some Sprite and Coke. He picks up a couple and puts them into the cart. Goes down further and picks up a few bags of chips and pretzels. Thinking he's done, he goes to the counter to pay. Puts his hand in his pocket and realizes he dropped his wallet in his car. He looks at the cashier and just smiles. "Christina! Hurry, I left my wallet in the car!" he yells out.
"I'm coming!"
Meanwhile, Paolo sits in detention ready to fall asleep. There is only one other person in the room. Her name is Adrienne, otherwise known as Age. She has long brown hair with blue and blonde streaks. She�s wearing huge jeans that sweep the floor as she walks and a black shirt. She also wears a lot of punk and metal jewelry around her neck and her wrists.
"So, Paolo, what did you do that you gotta do time in here?" Age asks, in a sarcastic tone. "What did you do?"
Paolo just sits in silence. As he always does. Looks at her for a second then turns away and puts his head down.
"C'mon, if you're in here you must have done something wrong. You can tell me, haha. I'm here cause I told my math teacher to go fuck herself. Which she probably did after."
Paolo looks up and smiles a little. "Really? Well, I was in English class and I had to give a speech and I'm not really a talkative person so I didn't want to. I was embarrassed. And Italiano kept trying to persuade me, she kept telling me how it would affect my grade, and then she kept giving me shit, so I spat in her face and just walked out of the room. Next period I got a letter from the principal saying I had detention cause I was disrespectful to a teacher. So I'm here."
"Nice!" she replied. And they both stared at each other and laughed.
Mike gets his books from his locker and heads home. He takes the shortcut to his house going through the creek. As he walks, he encounters a few kids from school, all getting high. They see him and walk up to him offering him a hit. Mike just stands there and looks at them. "C'mon dude, this shit is awesome, you gotta try it!" says one of the guys.
"Get that shit away from me," he says angrily and walks away.
"What the fuck is wrong with you? You think you're tough shit cause you're on the wrestling team don't you? Well, I'm telling you now, you're a piece o shit aight." As one of the guys said this, another throws a punch.
Without hesitation, Mike throws down his books and grabs the guys fist as it came in. "You really don't want to fight me," he says. They guy throws another punch with the other arm. Mike just dodges that too, pulls his other arm and throws him down to the ground. "I'm telling you, you don't want to fight me."
The other guys just watch, and look at Mike. He looks at the others and they all begin to run away. "Just remember to stay away next time." The kid on the floor gets up and runs from him.
Mike picks up his books and starts for home again.
Next day, Mike and Paolo sit in History, listening to a man that probably knew George Washington personally. The teacher was ancient. Mike and Paolo were best of friends. They knew everything there was to know about each other. Even about their powers.
They were both bored out of their minds, so Mike signaled Paolo to do a spell, to speed up time. So he did. Mike stared at the clock and noticed it move quicker. Before they knew it, the bell rang. "Nice job!" Mike says to Paolo.
"Thanks."
Suddenly, Mike and Paolo get a really weird feeling in their heads. They begin to see things happening. Bad things. They're seeing a lot of death and destruction. Then it just stops. They both look at each other in terror.
After school, they met up with Vinny and Christina. As they're talking, They
notice something wrong with Vinny. Vinny stands there staring blankly at the ground and sweating. Very worried, Christina yells out, "Oh my God! Vinny are you ok?" No answer. "Vinny!"
Vinny then regains consciousness and is tearing. "Did you guys see that? All that horrible death? Those people need help." He collapses to his knees. "You didn't see anything? Oh God, they're all screaming!"
Mike and Paolo stare at each other and say, "Vinny, we saw that too. This morning at like 4th period. We felt it."
They return to Paolo's house, the Tolentine House, and they all intend to sleep over. But first, they all go out for a pizza. Mike and Paolo get into the backseat and Vinny gets in shotgun position. Matt and Tom get into Tom's blue corvette. And Christina drives off with the others in her white Baretta. It's late now and dark. They get to the restaurant and there are no customers. They sit down and order their pizzas.
After about an hour they were done with their food and leave. The streets are empty and it's dark. They get into the car and drive home. On the way home, they passed a cemetery. All of a sudden there was a bone-chilling shriek coming from the cemetery. They all heard it.
"Stop the Car!" Mike said in a low voice. "What was that? You guys heard that too, right?"
"Yea," they all responded.
"Guys, I'm Scared can we just go? C'mon we have nothing to do with this," Christina said under her breath.
Matt and Tom are horrified and exit the car. "You guys hear that?" asked Matt. "Don't tell me that came from the cemetery..."
"Where else would it come from, We're surrounded by the cemetery," Tom explains sarcastically. "Let's go check it out!"
Vinny, Mike, and Paolo got out of the car and headed for the cemetery with Matt and Tom. "You coming Chris?" Paolo asked.
"You think I'm gonna stay here alone? Yeah, right." She got out of the car and ran towards the guys. "You know, something like this just has to happen to us, huh. God, the luck we have. You know, you guys are messed up. I hate you all for dragging me here."
"There's someone in trouble we gotta do something about it," Mike said.
Out in the distance there was a figure that moved around. That figure held a woman by the shoulders. The woman tried to struggle out of its grip. It was useless for she was too weak. She saw Mike, Vinny, Paolo, and Christina and screamed again, "Help me PLEASE!"
Mike pointed at the figure, "Let her go!" He looked at the figure trying to get a glimpse of who or what it was. His face turned pale. It was not human. It was like a shadow that stood holding the girl.
Matt stared in horror. He realized that the girl that was being held captive was Megan! "Wait, that's Megan! We gotta go help her!"
Mike looks at Paolo and nods his head. All of a sudden, a strong breeze arises and Paolo's eyes become totally black. He lifts his hands and strands of shadows emanate from him towards the creature and try to restrain him. Matt runs towards them and grabs Megan and brings her back to the group. Mike creeps up behind the creature and hits him with a powerful uppercut that sends it flying into the air.
Megan, lies in Matt's arms fully petrified at the events occurring around her. "Yo, Megan can't know who we are, or what just happened. I gotta erase it from her mind," Vinny suggests.
"Yea, good idea. Hold on to me. We're going for a ride," Matt says. They just vanish in a blur.
Tom tries to use his powers to conjure up a few metal stakes. As the creature falls, he throws it towards him and with great accuracy. The stakes pin him down to the ground. "Yes! Now that�s action!" He then, out of curiosity, goes to see what the creature looks like. When he reaches the figure, it�s gone, only a robe is left. "Aww, where did it go?"
As they all look around them to find the creature, A large shadow rises behind Tom. Paolo yells out "Tom!!! Watch out behind you!"
The shadow lifts its arms up about to bash Tom's head in. All of a sudden, the shadow just disintegrates. Then, all everyone sees is a falling metal stake that came from the shadow's back, and Matt standing directly behind it. "Nice! That was awesome!" says Matt with an excited out of breath voice.
Meanwhile, Vinny sits in front of Megan, staring into her eyes. His eyes begin to glow a bright blue and he starts to erase the memory of the events of the past hour. She then falls into a deep sleep. Everyone else returns to them and they all walk back to the cars and head for home.
Back at the Tolentine, they all sit around the fireplace. Quietly they sat there, thinking about what had just happened. Christina breaks the silence and mumbles, "do you think there's more of those things out there?"
Tom replies in an excited voice, "God I hope so, that was fucking great, now we can actually use our talents for something great. We can see what we can really do!"
"Well there are a lot of different kinds of those things out there. Some a lot stronger than that one. Vampires, Demons, Sorcerers, all that shit. We gotta be ready for that. My family's Grimoire has a huge list of demons that we might encounter. So we gotta get to training ourselves. I've read about some of them already. They're way stronger than u can imagine. They can kill us without even trying," Paolo tries to explain.
Vinny sits in silence, then suddenly he speaks, "I think we should all try to get some rest." Everything has changed now. There's a whole new world out there that we have to face. Tomorrow's going to be a whole new day."
