The ferry accross the River Plate. Crossing takes 3 hours if you're on a tight budget, one hour if you want to afford the fast ferry.
Another place of interest in Uruguay where we didnt have the time to go: Punta del Este. Lovely place too. Good for beaches, I was told .
Colonia is a place for tourists, but it has its own charm, the people are friendly and laid back, and the city boasts an interesting history, having being visited (looted) in the past 3 or 4 centuries by a multicultural variety of invaders, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabs, American, and now Irish...
Collectible cars there too, generally in better shape than accross the river. But Uruguay, well Colonia at least, seems to have less money problems than many places in Argentina.
The owner of this house for instance, has a Ford T on the first floor under a patio on the left hand side of the picture.
And also he has a lift to get him to his rooftop, where aparently he has a rooftop barbecue, like most self-respecting South American rooftop owners.
