"Kassa Kebede, OLF, and Guess Who Else: The Dream Team for a forlorn Hope" (click here to see Mr M A Kassa's Allegations),regarding the objectives (click here for Conference Objectives) and participants of the London Conference, August 02-04, 2001, the Centre for Civic Action and the ECB would like to reiterate that the Conference was , including the current ruling party, the TPLF/EPRDF. It was to address the current and an on-going crisis in Ethiopian governance and its impacts through an all-inclusive approach with a view to having a common approach focusing on Justice, Durable Peace and all-inclusive National Reconciliation.
The Government of the Prime Minister Meles Zenawi was officially invited, as were all the stakeholders. Respectable and internationally renowned Ethiopians were invited as Lead and Keynote Speakers. These were HE Liji Michael Imeru, Professor Messay Kebede, Dr. Gebeyehu Ejjigu and Dr. Hailu Araya to provide highlights on specific areas of the chosen Themes. Click here for more information |
Conference participants were free to make submissions during workshops and many took this opportunity to make points from their particular perspectives, including Dr. Kassa Kebede. The Organizers took no responsibility for particular views expressed by the participants. The Conference was a major success which opened up opportunities for an ALL-INCLUSIVE NATIONAL RECONCILIATION DRIVE at the national level. Click here for the Conference Immediate Press Release This being the fact, we were saddened to learn that Mr. Mulugeta Aserate Kassa, who did NOT attend the Conference, took a differing view and has suddenly cropped up after one year to accuse the Conference Organizers of all sorts of 'shortcomings' as he sees them. However, the Centre For Civic Action, UK, as one of the Conference Organizers, wishes not to be dragged into Mr. Mulugeta Aserate Kassa's hearsay and unsubstantiated allegations.
