| Otters, Selfs, REWs and Shadeds
I absolutely love the Otter pattern. I fell in love with these beauties early in my Dwarf endeavor and have always had a place for them in my rabbitry. I raise all four colors of Otters and their counter part Self varieties of Black, Blue, Chocolate and Lilac. My REW's came by a stroke of luck. My Mom won the pair of REWs donated by Marylouise Cowan to the ARBA Research & Development Raffle in 1997 at the Madison WI ARBA Convention. We named these bunnies Kristofer and Lilly. They were very special bunnies indeed. I cannot adequately express the positive impact these two animals had on my rabbitry. I incorporated the REWs into my Otter and Lynx/Fawn line which over time has not only improved type, but popped out a Shaded rabbit or two. Today, the old REW line has dwindled and REWs are uncommon in my barn. Though the Otters are strong and I always look forward to the joyous surprise of finding a pretty pink baby in the nest box that grows into a stunning REW from time to time. I am not the worlds biggest fan of Chestnut Agouti's. I think they are pretty in their own right, but as a genteics enthusiast, I find them a tad boring. If I hang on to a Chestnut there must be some method to my madness, as I usually sell them off as soon as possible. |
