Gravitation is a story of love. 18 year old Shuichi shindou is an ordinary teenage boy. He and his best friend Hiro have started a band called bad luck inspired by Shuichi's favorite band Nittle grasper. Shuichi longs to be famous and writes all his own songs. He always thinks the lryics are great until one day when he is walking in the park his lyrics are taken from him in a gust of wind. They land in te hands of a rather tall good looking blonde guy who tells Shuichi his lyrics suck. He tells him that he writes like a third graded and should just give up. Shuichi is insulted and distrought by this remark and wont let it down. He spends the whole of the next day ranting about the guy until he sees his car driving past in the street. In a desperate attempt to get an appology, he rushes infront of the car, almost getting knocked over. Shuichi later finds out that this person he has been obsessing over is a famous romance novelist Eiri Yuki. In all the fuss Shuichi forgets about the lyrics and falls madly in love with Yuki, but does Yuki feel the same about Shuichi. He claims that the doesn't swing that way, yet he is prepared to lead Shuichi on.
Shuichi's band then gets a lucky break. They get to be the opening act for a new band called ASK. Shuichi askes Yuki to come but he refuses and says he has other plans. However, when Yuki actually shows it throws Shuichi off balence and causes him to stand silent on the stage. His career as a singer could be over before it has even started. Just when it seems it's al over a suprise apperence from Shuichi's Idol spurs him on to peform one of the best opening acts ever. Outstaging the band ASK.
It then becomes a juggle between Yuki and his singing career. Even when Yuki is cold to Shuichi he still come crawling back which Yuki cannot understand.
Every character in Gravtiation is great and lovable.It's just one of those things that leaves in fits of hysterics for weeks and makes you giggle at the mention of a name. The music which features in the series is really amazing and stays in your head for a long time. It's what I would clasify as one for all ages.
The series and OVA of Gravitation were rather a let down compared to the mangas. However, they did not fail to please with it's fun fill crazy antics. Gravitation deals with many elements. It may have depressing things at times but ther is always comedy to back it up, which is what makes it such a great series. I would be certian to buy the manga.
My favorite character would have to be Ryuichi. He is a kind hearted soul with a split personality, making him a very intresting character.The lead singer from Nittle grasper, he is Shuichi's idol. The author purposly made Shuichi and Ryuichi look a lot like each other, even their voices are similar. Shuichi is voiced by Seki tomokazu, and Ryuichi by Kappei Yamaguchi.
Yes it's true Even if you are a straight male This anime will amuze and delight you. Many of my male friends Love to read this manga. Obiously It has more of a female "fan girl" fanbase, but don't let that put you off buying it. You are gonna love it
