Mom's First Reactions

Mom & Me

When they told me it was a girl, I could hardly believe my ears!  For 9 months everyone told my I was going to have a boy.  There are no words to express my joy and pride.  Thank you God for such a beautiful child.  Kate was so tiny, fragile, alert, and already showing signs of a temper!  Kate was conceived with much love and

respect; I hope Gery and I will always be able to fulfill her needs.

Dad's First Reactions

When Kate was wheeled past me from the O.R. I was very busy being a nervous expectant father.  She was screaming when I first met her.  As she glided past on a heated cart Kate looked me in the eye and screamed even louder.  I new she recognized her father.  What a grand debut!  The nurse and Kate entered the nursery

as I gave a sigh of relief and a prayer of thanks.  With that taken care of I turn my attentions back to the O.R. and mom.  Sherry hadnt emerged yet so I went back to worrying.  Soon after Sherry came by awake but disoriented.  A second sigh of relief and a second prayer of thanks were in order.  As I awaited permission to enter the O.B. I busied myself with a pay phone spreading the news that mother and child were fine!  To this point in time it is the proudest day of my life.
