Hironobu Sakaguchi has stated in EGM that Final Fantasy:  The Movie will be released in Summer 2001.   He also said that it 'has to be seen to be believed.'  The rest of the article was about Final Fantasy IX, which I'm eagerly awaiting (it'll be out soon!).  A veritable wealth of information ^_^.
