| Chapter II - A Day in the StarFox Army Falco - "Contact! LZ is hot, I repeat, landing zone is hot! All units fall back and take cover!" Lieutenant Falco ran towards the jungle and crawled behind the safety of a fallen tree. He slouched down and took a moment to rest. Falco was a member of the StarFox Army - a group of warriors aimed to protect the universe from threats. And the threat now was out there. Lots of 'em. Falco and his team of soldiers were to land on this jungle planet that morning and eliminate the presence of Kirbypuffs around StarFox's little outpost stationed there. But they didn't expect this many enemy forces. Once the dropship's doors opened, dozens of the pink, fluffy aliens - Puffs, as the StarFox soldiers like to call 'em - poured it. They managed to retreat to the trees, but the Puffs were following close behind. The Kirbypuffs were weak, but very aggressive. They did not have their own technology of laser blasters, but they were smart enough to grab the weapons of fallen StarFox soldiers. They- A deafening explosion filled the lieutenant's ears. He looked around and located the source - a Puff grabbed and threw a soldier's grenade, blowing away a group of soldiers nearby. Itching for revenge, he grabbed his blaster and attacked the nearest group of aliens. -=[ Battle 6 ]=- Teams: Falco (HMN) Vs. Kirby 3x (LV3, LV3, LV5) Items: Ray Gun (Laser Blaster), Bob-omb (Hand Grenade) Stage: Kongo Jungle N64 Extra: None Falco finished off the nearest of the Puffs, but looked up and saw the rest of the aliens advancing closer and closer. Falco reached into a pocket and grabbed a map. He opened it and examined it for a moment before putting it back away. He switched on the microphone on his headset. Falco - "The Kirbypuffs are advancing. Retreat back towards the west, to the river. We'll regroup there, fight off any Puffs we see, then continue on towards the outpost. Let's move!" Hours later, Lieutenant Falco and his team of soldiers reached the river. By then it was around noon; the sun peeked through the clouds in the blue sky. Falco's gaze was interrupted when a soldier came running up towards him. He saluted, and began to talk. Soldier - "Sir, we spotted a small group of enemy troops, accompanied by a Kirbypuff squad leader. What should we do?" Falco thought a moment before replying. Falco - "We'll position our troops along the river. Wait for my signal before charging out. Defeat the enemy forces as quickly as possible. Leave the leader to me." Soldier - "Yes, sir." The soldier saluted and ran back towards the rest of the troops. He told them the plan, and they got into position. Minutes later, Lieutenant Falco gave the signal. He tossed a grenade into the group of aliens. It exploded, marking the beginning of the battle... -=[ Battle 7 ]=- Teams: Fox 2x (HMN, LV5) Vs. Kirby 2x (LV3, LV6) Items: Ray Gun, Bob-omb Stage: Kongo Jungle Extra: Try to use the Ray Gun and your own Blaster as much as possible, creating the effects of a big gunfight. While his troops were fighting the Puffs, Falco used the distraction to sneak up on the leader. The alien noticed him, and growled, brandishing a Star Rod, a weapon the Kirbypuff leaders use to fight with and signal their troops around. Falco threw his blaster away and took out his own melee weapon. Pressing a button on the strange hilt-like piece of metal, a red glowing beam of energy produced at the end, creating an energy sword. Both Falco and the Puff leader stared at each other a moment before jumping into battle. -=[ Battle 8 ]=- Teams: Falco (HMN) Vs. Jigglypuff (LV7) Items: Beam Sword (Energy Sword), Star Rod (Kirbypuff Star Rod) Stage: Kongo Jungle Extra: You cannot pick up the Star Rod, because you don't know how to use it. After one finishing blow, the alien squad leader collapsed, motionless. Falco put his energy sword away, picked up his blaster, and looked around. There were just a few more Puffs left. He ran into the fight, helping his soldiers beat the remaining aliens. -=[ Battle 9 ]=- Teams: Falco (HMN) + Fox (LV5) Vs. Kirby 2x (LV4, LV5) Items: Ray Gun, Bob-omb Stage: Kongo Jungle Extra: Use the laser guns and the grenades as much as possible, and overwhelm the enemies. A cut-off cry of pain marked the death of the last Kirbypuff in sight. Falco let his men rest for a few minutes before continuing on towards the StarFox outpost... By the time they got to the outpost, the sun was setting in the sky. Falco was relieved that he finally reached their destination... but something seemed wrong. He walked closer to the outpost, and realized that all the windows were smash, and the whole place was a mess! A soldier appeared from the doorway, calling Falco over. Soldier - "Sir, all the occupants of the outpost are dead! It seems they were under attack. But the wounds are scratches. The Jigglypuffs don't have sharp claws that could do that kind of damage." Falco - Odd... it must be local creature. But what kind of thing would kill the whole company of men stationed here? Falco shrugged it off, and spoke out loud to the soldier. Falco - "Round up all the men and try to find anything th-" Falco was cut off by a strange squeaking noise, coming from around the corner. Seconds later, dozens of small, yellow rat-like creatures stormed around, heading strait for them! He watched in horror as one of the rats jumped onto the soldier's face. The man screamed as it dug its claws into the sides of his face. A moment later, a dozen more creatures jumped onto his body, ripping him apart. Falco grabbed his blaster and shot a few of the rodents before running towards the rest of his men. Falco - "All units, attack our new foe! Be careful - they're very quick and can rip you apart in seconds. Move, move move!" The StarFox soldiers scrambled. Laser beams flashed, some hitting their quick, yellow targets, but most missing, ripping holes into the trees. Lieutenant rearmed his own blaster, and helped his men out. -=[ Battle 10 ]=- Teams: Falco (HMN) + Fox (LV5) Vs. Pichu 2x (LV4, LV6) Items: Ray Gun, Bob-omb Stage: Jungle Japes Extra: None The StarFox soldiers fought their way away from the rabid yellow rodents, for a moment. Falco switched on his comlink gear, and called in the dropship. The team reached the ship sometime later. The soldiers all loaded into the dropship, and Falco was about to enter, when a group of the rodents suddenly appeared and attacked. Falco grabbed his energy sword and attacked the oncoming creatures. -=[ Battle 11 ]=- Teams: Falco (HMN) Vs. Pichu 2x (LV3, LV4, LV5) Items: Beam Sword, Bob-omb Stage: Venom Extra: None One last yellow critter remained. This one was bigger than the rest - and it looked more vicious. The strange rat growled, and attacked. -=[ Battle 12 ]=- Teams: Falco (HMN) Vs. Pikachu (LV8) Items: Beam Sword, Bob-omb Stage: Venom Extra: None Lieutenant Falco defeated the rodent chief after a tough battle, and went into the dropship. He and his men put the tough day of battling behind them. StarFox members always looked forwards to the next day - a new day of fighting. Falco smiled. Another glorious day in the StarFox Army... |
