| Chapter I - The Mission Samus Aran awoke to the sound of a beeping noise. Sighing and turning the alarm off, she activated the navigations computer. Her eyes darted across the screen, reading the information - she reached her destination. She glanced out the cockpit window, taking a moment to look at her surroundings. Nighttime was spreading over the city of Fourside. Lights flickered on across the numerous skyscrapers that covered the area. She spotted her destination, the Monotoli Building, home of the Fourside Museum. Bringing her stealth strike corvette starship out of autopilot, she grabbed the control stick and flew towards the building. Samus placed the ship into a hover over the roof of the building and put on her combat armor. She pushed several buttons, opening the rear ramp. Taking a running start, she leaped into the night... Samus landed silently on the roof of the Monotoli Building, rolling to a stop behind a protruding ventilation duct. Pressing a few buttons on her wrist computer, her ship quickly flew away. She peeked over her cover and scanned the area. A few guards were present, patrolling the surrounding rooftops. They all were watching her ship fly away. Samus knew they didn't see her jump out, but it would be best to take care of them before they call in backup. Switching on her arm canon and loading her missiles, she leapt into action... -=[ Battle 1 ]=- Teams: Samus (HMN) Vs. Mario 2x (LV2, LV3) Items: Ray Gun (Laser Blaster) Stage: Fourside Extra: None Taking out the last of the guards, Samus blew down the nearby door, and looked inside. It was the stairwell. She leaped down to the floor below, and entered the maintenance room. After searching around, she found what she was looking for: a computer terminal, placed into the wall. She pressed a button on her canon arm, making the end of a plug stick out. Pulling the wire out, she plugging it into the terminal. Information flooded her visor heads-up display. Samus brought up the floor plans of the building. Locating where she wanted to go, she unplugged the uplink and pressed a button; the wire zipped back into her arm. She set off towards her destination - the room in the museum that housed the Crystal of Makoona, her 'bounty'. On her way there, Samus remembered how she got this small job. She was tipped off to meet a person at a cafe who had a job for her. When she got there, she found a mysterious man, covered in a dark cloak and hood, which covered all his features. He offered a generous reward, far more than she usually would get. Her mission was simple: retrieve the Crystal of Makoona from the Fourside Museum and bring it back to her hirer. Samus didn't know too much about the crystal, but she did know that it was rumored an ancient artifact, and was worth a lot of money. Samus reached the room where the crystal was. She scanned the security: there were many guards, and attack dogs. The area around the crystal's case was also guarded by trip lasers, as she found out with her infrared scanner. She grabbed a mine attached to her hip and threw it into the room. An attack dog stepped on it, making it explode. The dog disappeared into the fire and smoke... Alarms blaring, Samus jumped into the confusion, attacking the nearest of the guards. -=[ Battle 2 ]=- Teams: Samus (HMN) Vs. Mario (LV4) + Yoshi 2x (LV3) Items: Ray Gun, Motion-Sensor Bomb (Proximity Mine), Home Run Bat (Nightstick) Stage: Battlefield Extra: None Samus activated her EMP Shield, and grabbed an EMP mine - a special mine that produced an electromagnetic pulse, disabling anything in the radius that had a computer chip. The EMP Shield, a device recently installed into her Chozo Power Suit, protected her armor from the EM waves. She tossed the mine near the lasers. It went off seconds later, producing a blue electronic wave throughout the room. The security lasers flickered and died. The bounty hunter reached in and grabbed the oddly shaped crystal, and turned to leave - but ran into the reinforcements - two more guards, followed by a much larger, more vicious looking attack dog. Placing the crystal carefully back onto the stand, she prepared to fight... -=[ Battle 3 ]=- Teams: Samus (HMN) Vs. Mario 2x (LV2, LV3) + Donkey Kong (LV5) Items: Ray Gun, Bob-omb (Hand Grenade), Home Run Bat, Freezie (Crystal of Makoona) Stage: Battlefield Extra: You cannot use the Freezies (the CPU can, since you can't control them) since it is the crystal. After taking care of the security, Samus grabbed the Crystal of Makoona again, and ran back towards the roof. She ran out to the roof, but quickly skidded to a halt and ran back inside. She peeked out. There were much more guard there then before. They seemed to be waiting for her... Samus - Why are there so many guards? That crystal is expensive, but it's not like it can giver people special powers... Samus shrugged it off, and went and grabbed an automatic blaster from a nearby security weapons room. She charged it, and burst into the roof. -=[ Battle 4 ]=- Teams: Samus (HMN) Vs. Mario 3x (LV2, LV3, LV4) Items: Ray Gun, Super Scope (Automatic Energy Blaster), Bob-omb, Freezie Stage: Fourside Extra: You cannot use the Freezies (the CPU can, since you can't control them) since it is the crystal. Samus defeated the guards, and remote piloted her starship back to the rooftops. She placed the Crystal of Makoona in a special compartment inside her ship. She was about to close the ramp, when a group of attack dogs burst out of the stairwell door, running towards her... -=[ Battle 5 ]=- Teams: Samus (HMN) Vs. Yoshi 2x (LV2, LV3) + Donkey Kong (LV6) Items: None Stage: Fourside Extra: None Samus quickly retreated into her ship after she defeated the dogs, and blasted off before any other security could come. Putting in the coordinates of the meeting place with the person that hired her and setting her ship into autopilot, she took off her Power Suit and relaxed in the pilot's chair. She put the thoughts of the unusually heavy security behind her, and closed her eyes. The bounty hunter fell asleep in seconds. |
