There's not a lot here but I really, really like Google Earth - download it if you're on broadband and enjoy the world and don't forget to turn on the extra features down the left hand side. You may need to search for "Christchurch, United Kingdom" rather than just "Christchurch" as its search engine is very US-centric. It works as a great companion piece to Google Maps.
YouTube, Flickr, and iTunes (try the free PodCasts!) will also take up your spare time and your bandwidth and Wikipedia is rapidly becoming the world's best reference book (if it isn't already).
