Scott Fannen - Mac stuff.

Macs rule.

Now we've got that straight, I'll try to explain why.

I've been a user of Apple Macintosh computers for 13 years and have been doing technical support (mainly of Macs) for 7 years.

It used to be the case that Macs crashed more often than PCs (machines running MS Windows) but were usually fine after a reboot whereas a PC could be more of a fatality. Now with the latest Mac operating system - OS X - my Mac rarely crashes ever (3 - 4 times a year). PCs...well...

I help keep Macs and PCs running for a job. Macs are easier to fix. In fact, with a little effort, the average user can become quite the Mac expert in a fairly short time if they are so inclined. I still don't consider myself a Windows expert after all these years and, unless something dramatic happens, I'm not likely to ever buy a PC (or keep one if I win one).

Mac users have quite a community too. Apple might have a small market share but so does Porsche, Mercedes and Ferrari. Apple is similar. PCs rarely win design awards for a start and since the iPod took over the world, why are you waiting?

For keeping up-to-date about Mac news, I go to Macsurfer, Macintouch and MacCentral.

For troubleshooting tips and news, I go to MacFixit and Apple's own discussion boards.

For software, I go to MacUpDate and VersionTracker. Current favorite shareware or freeware I use: Dragthing, Adium and Quicksilver (do a Google search on how it works - it's fantastic when you get used to it). There's a ton of good stuff out there though - hence the overflowing hard disk.

Did I mention Macs rule?
