| Fantasy Stories Lord of the Rings - these movies are based on the books by J.R.R. Tolkien about a hobbit named Frodo Baggins who quested to destroy an evil ring that was being used by the dark lord sauron to conquer Middle Earth. It is probably my favorite of all fantasy stories. I got into this when I grew out of the Narnia books- they have a lot more action. The Chronicles of Narnia- these are stories for young people, written by C.S. Lewis, about some children in England who stumble upon a whole other world of fantasy, known as Narnia. This site is someone's unofficial site describing characters from the story. There are seven books, all exciting and fun to read. I read them all when I was younger and enjoyed them very much. C.S. Lewis was a great man, a devout christian theologian. The Chronicles of Narnia were great novels from a great imagination. Disney is now making a film from his first book, The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe. Learn more about it here. |
| Fantasy Games Nethack- this is a great freeware random generation rpg-type fantasy game wtih some history to it. It is available for almost every platform you can think of and does not have heavy system requirements. I still haven't beaten it yet! King's Quest VGA!- I loved the first original King's Quest games, which were released in the early-mid 80's in glorious 4-bit color and 2-bit mono pc speaker sound. But now, AGD interactive has done it! A better-graphics VGA remake of King's Quest, only with more challenges to it. The file may be large, but it's worth the download. Don't get me wrong; the graphics aren't great- just better. The game runs in 320 mode so it's like games from the early 90's. Merlin's Quest- Want to sink ye teeth into a wizardly game right now, without a download? Merlin's quest is just right for ye! Battle for Middle Earth- Oh if only my computer was faster! This has to be the best LOTR Real Time Strategy ever! I can't wait to play it. The home of all abandonware- This is the greatest place to find abandonware. Abandonware is software and games that companies made a long time ago but don't care about it any more, so the license is expired and anyone can download it at their own pleasure. There's a lot of classic games here, including many fantasy games, like Temple of Apshai. For all ye mac users like me, there's this abandonware site. |
