Our Approach
|
The focus of ERITAJ Foundation
support will be on helping the Haitian
people establish Community Centers in
both urban and rural areas.
Toward this end, grassroots committees
assess their community's needs and
develop a plan to address them through
the Community Centers. Each Center
has a Board of Advisors (minimum of
four individuals), at least three staff
members, and controls against
mismanagement and nepotism.
Each Center focuses the efforts of its
trained staff on a significant area of need,
including
-
Health care, from, pre-natal through
old age;
- Education, with a special focus on
eliminating illiteracy among the
adult population;
-
Social assistance, including work
training, help for the homeless
(especiaIly for children), family
services;
-
Agro-economics and water management
Sources of funding for the Centers include
start-up assistance from ERITAJ Foundation,
government contracts, reduced fees for
services, and efforts to develop support from
the surrounding community. Realistic
operational budgets are periodically audited.
The Haitian people have fought to have a
democratic government. Now they can start
to rebuild their society by providing basic
social needs through their Community Centers. They need our help if their efforts are to
succeed. That is the role of the ERITAJ
Foundation. Please join with us.
