Experience

Develop ASP.NET web applications in Visual Studio 2005 (Visual Web Developer) with C#, VB.NET, Microsoft Access, SQL Server 2005 and Active Directory on .NET Framework 2.0. Develop and support legacy ASP applications in VBScript & Javascript using Macromedia Dreamweaver 8. Design new websites, graphics and logo standards using Macromedia Studio 8 (Fireworks, Dreamweaver, Flash) and Macromedia Freehand MX. Develop and program custom Microsoft Office templates using Visual Basic. Troubleshoot desktop/laptop hardware and software issues, printers, servers and other computer equipment for 200+ users. Research and recommend hardware and software purchases. Administer servers running on Windows Server 2003/Terminal Server Edition, perform tape backups with Veritas BackupExec and setup and install new computer equipment using Symantec Ghost 7.5. Interview and recommend new IT hires and plan for IT-related business process needs for multiple departments within the agency to increase automation and reduce redundancy of information.

Update site content for 23 Athletic teams at http://www.jmusports.com using Microsoft Frontpage 2000/2003, HTML and Javascript. Update, maintain and support ASP applications written in VBscript. Design promotional artwork for various sections of the website using Adobe Creative Suite and Macromedia Studio MX/MX 2004, maintain Absolute BannerManager and Admin portions of the website for media relations staff to use for updating daily content on sports news, schedules and other information.

Develop ASP.NET applications using Visual Studio .NET, C#, .NET Framework 1.1, HTML, SQL, Javascript, Surround SCM, Oracle/TOAD, ArcIMS and the Microsoft Enterprise Library. Develop ArcPad applications for collecting storm sewer attribute data using ArcPad Application Builder 6.0.1 with VBScript. Support GIS project tasks including digitizing watershed features, QA/QC of attribute data for sewer features based on original engineering drawings using ArcGIS 8.3, 9.0 (ArcInfo License). Develop ArcIMS websites with IIS on Oracle & SQL Server databases with ArcSDE.

Install ArcIMS 9.0, IIS 5.0/Apache HTTP Server 2.0.48, Apache Tomcat 4.1.29, New Atlanta ServletExec and J2SE SDK 1.4.2. Design graphic content using Adobe Creative Suite and HTML. This work is part of my Master’s thesis work, which also involves creating an open source GIS web application using DM Solutions Group’s MapLab application, UMN MapServer 4.4/4.5, Apache HTTP Server 2.0.55, PHP Application Server 4.4.0 and some work installing and setting up PostgreSQL/PostGIS. GIS site was not completed due to time restrictions and staff turnover.

Design database schema for a local government contract using the relational model, normalization theory and Entity-Relationship diagrams. Develop the database SQL scripts for input into the MySQL Database Management System. Create database schema visualization diagrams using Microsoft Access. Setup, install and configure a MySQL instance and create and populate the database using DDL and DML SQL Scripts. Develop some basic PHP scripts for connecting database results to a webpage for the purpose of inserting, updating and deleting data.

Design, administer and support Microsoft Access 2000/2002 databases for a staff of 12 students and 3 full time employees including schema design, UI design and customization with forms and switchboards, query and report design and custom programming with VBA. Develop and update websites with Microsoft Frontpage 2000, HTML and ASP with VBscript. Design graphics for website with Adobe Photoshop 5.5. Supporting staff on the use of Microsoft Office 2000, including integrating media into PowerPoint, formulas and data manipulation in Excel and formatting mailing labels and other custom documents in Word. Interview and recommend new IT hires, prepare IT training manuals, document best practices and procedures and serve as a technical liaison to the community for IT support through the Technology Assistance Program (TAP).
