Hmmm... well, after working on this site all day, it finally comes down to the time when I need to get a few thoughts out here - the whole purpose of the site. but now that the pressure's on to do it, i'm having difficulty coming up with something enlightening to say... i guess i don't really have to be enlightening. in fact, i'm not even going for interesting at this point. i'm actually just attempting to fill in the big white space so that i can see how the text looks on the page.

While i'm writing this, Dick is going through his black and white photos from our new york trip last weekend (4/15/05 - 4/19/05). his photos, by the way, are fantastic. i'll have to put some on the site really soon.

you know, the whole photo-taking thing is interesting on a vacation. we went to new york with mike and christina. mike, dick and I all carried cameras around for most of the trip. at first i thought it was silly that all three of us would take the camera out at the same point. i figured we'd all be taking the same cliche photos of the same famous landmarks. but it's funny how different people see a place. when you look at my photos, they're all sunny and flowery. and due to baby-niece-sized fingerprint on my lens, my photos are all fuzzy with that angelic, Cybil Shephard aura. Dick's photos, however, show more of the city's texture, with it's grime and it's edge. It's a much darker (and frankly, more artistic) portrayal. Mike's photos are somewhere between the two.

but enought about new york. i really should be talking about me. i suppose my take on new york pretty much sums it up. i like things that are pretty and happy. my attitute may seem unenlightened, and certainly uncool, but here's why i feel the way I do: negativity is constantly there, hollaring at you, complaining, nagging you. it's really easy to see that and to dwell on it. don't get me wrong, i admire people who dedicate their lives to activism and making the world better. but the majority of the whiners are just whining. unless you're doing something to change the things you don't like, what's the point in putting so much focus and energy on negativity? i look for the good stuff. irritating perhaps, but it makes my world a more positive place to be. when it comes to the negative, i try to focus on how to make it better, not just on how much it all sucks.

oh, and another thing about me - I change my mind constantly. so by the time you read this little rant, i will probably have changed my whole perspective.
