| "So then I said," Madame Rosmerta, I said I wanted a tequila, not a veela!!!" Ginny laughed uproariously at Harry's joke, and her laugh seemed to echo in the almost empty common room. The exploding Snap set had been push aside long ago, and Harry and Ginny had been talking and laughing ever since. It was late, and most of the students had gone to bed. The clock on the wall struck midnight Ginny looked up, startled. "Oh my gosh, I hadn't realized how late it was!" She said. Harry glanced at the clock as well. "Wow," he said, looking at Ginny," Time just flew by!" " Well,"Ginny said, gathering her things," I hate to be the one to say it, but we better go to bed! I have an early Herbology quiz tomaorrow!" "Yea, you're right," said Harry, standing up," Come on." They trudged up the stairs together. "Well, 'night Gin," said Harry. "Goodnight Harry, see you tomarrow," replied Ginny as she pushed open the door to the girl's dorm. Once inside, a huge grin broke out onto Ginny's face. Humming softly, she put away her things and climbed into bed. "Maybe there is hope for me yet!" She thought to herself, as she layed her head back on her pillow. * * * The next morning, Hermione was up early and was getting dressed. She was deciding which blouse Harry would like better on her, the red or the green, to wear under her robes. Hermione was leaning towards the green, considering it was Harry's favorite color. Then she remember her necklace, laying on her night stand. She clasped behind her neck, and right as she heard the click of the necklace being fastened, the thought struck her that Ron's favorite color was red. "Hermione, lets go! We'll be late for breakfast!" Parvati's voice echoed through the dormitories. " All right, allright, Im coming," Hermione said. She looked at the two shirts, and quickly pulled on the red one, leaving the green one laying on the chair. As she raced down the steps, Hermione did not notice the bright glow of her necklace, gleaming at the base of her neck. * * * It was later that evening, and Harry had barely seen Hermione all day, much less talked to her. He and Ginny were sitting in the common room, again, talking and waiting for Ron and Hermione to return from the library. In a burst of desperateness, Harry had told Ginny about his problem with Hermione. Ginny had rose magnificently to the occasion, and was full of ideas and suggestions. " Well Harry, it sounds like what you need is something to rekindle your flame, right?" " I guess thats about right," said Harry," Got any ideas?" "Well, you know how we have the day off coming up soon?" Harry nodded, and Ginny continued," Maybe you and Hermione could take a little trip to Hogmeade together. Do something fun, spend a little time together!" "You know Ginny, that just might work," said Harry thoughtfully. He pulled her in for a quick hug."Thank you, you always have great ideas!" "Anytime," replied Ginny, smiling up at him. * * * Hermione pushed open the heavy wooden doors to the library, making them creak loudly in protest. She slowly shut the doors behind her, care not to make any more noise due to Madame Pince's stern look. Then she started walking quickly towards the back of the library, her cloak swishing against her legs. Classes were over for the day, and it was time to meet Ron again to finish their project. After what had happened yesterday, Hermione was a little nervous about their meeting today, but strangly enough, she had been looking forward to it for most of the day. Why she had no idea. But Hermione had managed to convince herself that she just wasn't feeling well, and she only felt odd because she had figured out the way Ron felt about her. "Of course thats it," she thought defiently to herself as she rounded a corner. The library was totally deserted. But then Hermione spied Ron sitting on one of the smaller couchs with his head resting on his hands reading a book. Hermione stopped, taking him in. His red hair shone softly in the dim light, and his lips were pursed with concentration. His lips... Hermione stared at them, and she found herself wondering what would have happened if she hadn't pulled back yesterday... Just then, Ron looked up. "Oh, there you are," he said brightly, as he cleared a spot for her to sit. Hermione put on a warm smile. "Here I am," she said, sitting down on the couch next to him. They got started looking up things and taking notes. Every now and then though, something would happen, like Ron's hand would accidentally brush Hermione's, or they would both look at each other at the exact same time, only to instantly look away. The tension (or was it electricity?) caused by yesterday was almost unbearable, and right as Hermione was going to say something, Ron did. "So, uh, Herm," he said carefully, jotting down a line of notes and turning to face her," What exactly happened yesterday?" Hermione's heart skipped a beat, but she slowly set down her quill and turned to face Ron as well. His gaze bore into her, and she seemed to be sinking into his deep blue eyes. " I dont know, but..." Hermione searched his face. She barely even heard Ron say "But what". Hermione felt like she was drowning. She felt herself slowly leaning forward, and his face, it was so close, and his lips, she could almost taste them, all she had to do was lean a little bit closer...And when Hermione looked up into his clear blue eyes she lost all self control. Their lips met once, and again, and again. She couldn't get enough of him. Sweet tingles ran up her spine as their kisses grew longer, and longer. And when she felt Ron's teeth nibble on her lower lip, white fireworks exploded behind her eyes. As Ron's hands slipped behind her neck, Hermione gasped for breath, but right as she was about to lean in again, she heard something hit the floor. Hermione looked down, and saw her necklace glowing almost florescantly laying on the royal blue carpet. She stared at it. And thats when the realization of what she had done hit her. She had kissed Ron. Kissed Ron like she had never kissed Harry. A small part of her wanted to sink back into Ron's warm embrace, but another feeling, a much stronger one was screaming at her to get away. Now. " I have to go," Hermione stammered, snatching the necklace off the floor. Her breath was coming in short gasps. And with that she fled out of the library, not even bothering to gather her books. * * * |
