What is the Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) all about?
The Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 82 represents the federal officers interests of Western Texas and Southern New Mexico.
Who can join the FOP?
FOP, Lodge 82 accepts applications from federal law enforcement officers who have been recommended for membership.
Can managers (non-bargaining employees) join the FOP?
Absolutely! We have a good number of managers as members. Most managers like to keep a low profile on their membership due to the current political climate.
What is a Member In Good Standing?
Any member who has not fallen more than 30 days in arrears in his/her lodge dues. If you have not paid dues, you do not have legal benefits.
If I join, would I be eligible to obtain an attorney?
Yes. As soon as you are involved in an administrative action or incident and require representation, you are eligible to receive attorney services. The legal protection offered is only for job related incidents.
If I do not want to use a approved FOP attorney, but want to use my own attorney am I covered, and if so, for how much?
You can use any attorney you wish, but you'll have to pay a $250.00 deductible with maximum coverage limits. The Plan pays legal fees up to the maximum amounts shown below:
Coverage A: (Administrative): initial consultation, preparation and hearing / $9,000
Coverage B: (Civil): pleading and preparation / $9,5000; Trial / $9,500@ $700 per day maximum.
Coverage C: (Criminal): pleading and preparation / $9,500; Trial / $9,500@ $700 per day maximum; advice and
consultation for grand jury hearing / $2,500.
How much are the dues?
$28.00 a month.

I haven't received my membership card. Who do I contact?
If you haven't received your lodge membership card and your dues are current, you should contact the lodge secretary to insure your address is updated. You'll also need to contact the lodge secretary to get your FOP vehicle decal or any other information on the lodge and/or benefit information. Always insure your address is current with the Secretary to receive the latest information. All membership cards have been sent to all members for 2005.
