Look inside your fire helmet, it will have this warning:
WARNING: FIRE FIGHTING IS INHERENTLY DANGEROUS.
"
No? Really? Are you saying that crawling around in a burning building  isn't a normal everyday activity?"
What is a Firefighter?

I would suggest that he is a type of 'guy next door'.
He is a 'man's man' with a sharp memory and not a little
boy who never got over the excitement of fire engine sirens,
smoke and danger.
He is a person like you and me with worries and unfufilled dreams,
yet he stands taller than most of us.

He is a FireFighter that puts it all 'on the line' when the bells go
down. He is a man who savours life because he has seen so much of
the awesome power of violent forces. He is the
most fortunate or unforunate of men.
He is responsive to a child's laughter because he has held too
many small bodies who will never laugh again.

He is a man who enjoys and appreciates the many simple pleasures
of life like 'hot coffee' held in fingers unbending from the cold,
the flush of fresh air pumping through smoke and
fire convulsed lungs, a bed for bone and muscle
completely beyond feeling and the comrades, all 'brave men'.
The divine peace of selfless service and a job well done in the name of man.
He doesnt have any buttons or flags to wave,
and when he marches it is to honour a fallen friend or comrade.

"He doesnt preach the brotherhood of man...
He lives it"
