Placement at 8h is curious. I hesitate to say it's flat-out wrong, but I don't see its advantages over 8g. I didn't get a chance to ask Ira about his choice after the game, as we were too busy dissecting the endgame.

Both slot a vowel above a TLS (which we all know is minor), but 8h also allows access to two TWS's. After 8g, the only way I'm reaching a TWS is if I draw a knight. :) The A at 8j doesn't preclude enough of the medium-scoring overlap plays vis-a-vis the 8h placement to warrant allowing me the additional options.
