How to Remove Spyware Using Ad-Aware SE Personal

Return to Home

In the present day of computing and high-speed information travel, privacy is more important than ever. However, many companies and individuals attempt to gather information about you in order to target advertisements or even steal your information for personal gain. Software that accomplishes these tasks is called spyware. Spyware can be difficult or impossible to remove manually, as usually the program will not uninstall properly, can’t be uninstalled at all, is hidden in strange places on your computer, set to start or even reinstall every time you reboot your computer, or worse.

Signs of Spyware

  1. Random pop-ups appearing on non-related websites or even when a browser is not open.
  2. An excessive number of pop-ups occurring on your computer while it is idle.
  3. The Internet connection is slow or barely functions.
  4. Strange program file names in your start-up folder (Located in the Start menu, under Programs).
  5. A high number of program crashes that don’t involve anything you are currently running.
  6. Your home page has changed.
  7. Every time you enter a search in your browser, it bypasses your default search page and leads you to a page full of advertisements and search results.
  8. Your computer takes longer than normal to boot.

There are other symptoms of spyware, but most of them are fairly technical or obscure. These above are the most common and most easily visible.
