| Questions 1: Is it possible that Eleanor Roosevelt was correct in assuming that we can shape ourselves and overcome our genetic inheritance and our upbringing? If it is possible, is it possible for every individual in our society? Or only for a few? Or is it merely conceivable, yet not possible? Question 2: There must be some middle ground on the issue of drinking and driving. Surely prohibition or no laws against it, is a false dichotomy. Or is it? Why/why not? Question 3: Is the fantasy of "responsibility" bad for a society? Some have argued that making individuals responsible for their actions with reward and punishment as the outcome of said responsibility, is then responsible (or causes) the individuals in the society to not do those "bad" deeds and rather, to be "good" citizens. Is this a good enough reason to continue the fantasy? |
