From the analysis of the fantasy theme of "responsibility" we can see that there are many false beliefs and contradictions within this fantasy. Generally speaking about the fantasy that is believed by the whole society, it seems that there is no such thing as "responsibility." Unless we make a "cut-off" point, in which case still negates how "responsibility" is currently viewed. Specifically speaking, we see that individuals under the influence (or one could say under the coercion) of alcohol should not be held responsible for their actions the same as a sober individual is. The only true and universal way to deal with the unjust laws of responsibility in this matter is to make all alcohol consumption illegal or remove the drinking and driving laws. People who drink and drive are not villains; they are you and me, only under the influence of something other than their own mind. Thus, if there is "responsibility" then they should not be responsible for their actions. Those that are responsible and do not consume alcohol and drive, are not heroes. They could not have performed otherwise. So, without "free-will" and "responsibility" there is no praise or blame, there are no heroes or villains, there are only human individuals. The fantasy about "responsibility" is a generally believed fantasy in this society, but because of the conflicting ideas about it, it may not be how our world really is. |
