Job
Applications
A job application is really an interview application.
The employer uses written applications to sift through the candidates to
identify only those best suited to the advertised position. Your written
presentation is vital, then, to your chances of progressing to interview stage
(just as vital as your personal presentation at the interview) - as is the
content of your letter.
If you are unsure of the format, content and tone appropriate
in a job application, you would be wise to research these matters, or use a
professional service to ensure you make the best possible first impression with
your letter. I am a professional writer and an ex-teacher of academic and
business English: I am well experienced in writing successful job applications
for others, as well as myself. I cannot guarantee that your application
will be successful, but I can guarantee a first class presentation and
appropriate content.
- My fee is $35 per hour. Minimum charge is $20.
Some
job application tips
- Use correct business letter format
- Observe correct etiquette (eg: sign off with Yours
sincerely if you know the addressee's name; Yours faithfully if
you don't)
- Address all the job criteria
- Use concise "business English", not flowery prose
- Include only the relevant facts - prospective
employers do not want to read a lengthy description of your past employment
history or a sales spiel highlighting your attributes in minute
detail.
- Do include your employment experience relevant to
the advertised position, appropriate qualification details and any other
attributes that you would bring to the job.
| I would recommend that you write your job application yourself
in the first instance, using the above tips as a guide. If you are
uncertain about the quality of your application, contact
me for a free assessment, or email
me your application. I will make minor corrections without charge.
