"Odd," the young lady says.  "I thought the sign was more articulate than that." 

"It may have something to do with the edges being on fire," you reply. 

The rest of the village is on fire, too, especially the thatched roofs, which are always the first to go in any volcanic eruption involving a torrential rain of flammable materials -- as this one just happens to do. 

In the dust-choked streets, you pass someone who shouts, "If I've said it once, I'll say it again -- it's the Volcano Festival!" 

"Would you mind?" the young lady asks, drawing your sword. 

Before you can answer, she takes your sword and comes up behind the person shouting, and bangs him over the head with the hilt. 

"If I've said it once, I'lllllll -- "  He falls backward. 

"His parents says it's witchcraft," she says, returning your sword.  "I think its hyperactivity from too much sugar." 

You head west, toward farmland. 

You head northwest, toward a forested vale. 

You head north, toward the lake. 

You head northeast, toward green rolling hills.
