| You get swept down
the river. Not such a bad thing, except that you don't know how to
swim. Good thing you're not in full armor -- but that not swimming
thing, isn't that bad enough?
Luckily, you grab onto a piece of bridge planking, and paddle to shore, coughing and spitting water. On the river bank, downstream from the troll bridge, you encounter a farmer. He is standing next to a boat. There are two chickens and a fox at his side as well. "Could you help me cross the river with your boat?" you ask. "Well, I could," says the farmer. "But first I have a quandary to solve." "That's how it's been today," you say. "I have to carry this fox and two chickens across on the boat. Now, I can only carry one at a time. If I leave the fox alone with one of the chickens, however, it will eat them." |
